Third Wedding

My friend is getting married this week and it will be her third wedding. I didn't know her for her previous 2 weddings. I saw the last divorce and the recent boyfriend-turned-fiance development. My question is, what is an appropriate gift for this situation? The invitation does not request no gifts, however, they are definitely not in need of any kitchen gadgets, bathroom decor, towels, etc. We are good but not great friends. Her daughter and my daughter were best friends when they still lived here in our neighborhood, before the divorce and they moved away. Any advice would be great!

What can I do next?

I say give money! Everyone likes money and I know that for my wedding I wish that is all I had gotten.

A gift certificate for a restaurant they both enjoy should be sufficient.

I agree, a gift certificate to a restaurant.........if you use this link, you can get a 25.00 gift certificate for 2 or 3 dollars.........http://ht.ly/21gZJ use the code Summer for the savings......sorry, the other one was for 10.00 for a 25.00...

That's a good deal for them and for you!

If they don't like to go out to eat......then get them something personalized.....just a little something from like Things Remembered or someplace, even if it's just key rings.....with their names on it.

Take care and good luck.

You've gotten great suggestions so far - just thought I would add a nice picture frame for them to put a wedding pic in would be nice if you didn't want to give money (or gift cards) or if they do not drink...

How about a bottle of wine or a resturant gift card. Or movie theater gift card. Something they can enjoy together but not clutter up the house!

Is she having a traditional-style wedding? By this, I mean, reception, flowers photographer, etc? If it's a small, no fuss affair, perhaps you could use a digital camera, take photos (especially the non-posed type) and then use My Publisher or Snapfish to create a wedding album for far less than a photographer would charge. Otherwise, I would second the "gift certificate" suggestion. Always useful!

a visa gift card for $25 is great because they can use it anywhere
if they have a hobby they enjoy together a gift card to a sporting goods store or a book store
toilet paper :) no matter how long you've been on your own you will always need toilet paper. haha.
my aunt gave an apron and a cute poem about aprons to my sister with a couple of her favorite recipes. good recipes are always in high demand as well.
just a few ideas.
also, don't be afraid to ask so, I'm going to get you something and I wanted to know if there was anything you could use or need, it would be better to get something I know you will use and appreciate, I"m getting something either way so you might as well tell me. (I use this one a lot with my sisters and my friends)

I've been married twice and had enough people ask me where we were registered the second time so we just ended up registering. Plenty of people who attended my first and second weddings didn't give a gift and that's fine.

Personally, I'd consider the type of wedding it is no matter how many times they've been married. If it's a full-scale thing or small at an expensive restaurant, I'd bring a "normal" gift as I would for a first wedding...especially if I had not attended a previous wedding of theirs. If it's low-key, then my gift would be low-key.

I've gotten in the habit of giving champagne, wine or brandy with two pretty glasses of the right sort - flutes, wineglasses or snifters.

I assume she has not registered anywhere (considering they don't need much). I'd just go with either cash or a gift card to a home type store - Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, something like that.
