Sore Knees on New Crawler

My 7 month old has been crawling for about a month now. Recently he has been whining while and even avoiding crawling while at my in-laws hourse. (They baby-sit twice a week) I believe it is due to their hard carpet and that he has TONS of room to crawl and loves to explore.
Does anyone have any recommendations of how to stop his knees from hurting while he is there?

What can I do next?

If you go to babiesrus.com they have pants with built in knee pads. The company Snazzy Baby sells knee pads by themselves. Here is a link to a site about them http://babyproducts.about.com/od/infantgear312months/gr/s...
You can find them at babyproofingplus.com plus some other alternatives if you just type in knee in the search box.
If you don't like those, you can also go to any search engine and type in "infant (or baby) knee pads" and a bunch of sites will come up.

L., go w/ what Michelle said!
Cheap!!!!
I bought 2 pairs of baby legs which work, but are pricey. Just cut the toes off the end of adult or girl socks & slip them over his legs. The cool thing is that the ball of the foot part bends to normally go up the ankle & fits perfectly where the knee bends, lol
good luck!

Baby legs (baby leg warmers) or socks to use like leg warmers with nursing pad inserts...saved the knees on brick floors!

SOCKS! big enough to go around his legs of course, cut the foot/toe off the sock and pull it up (like leg warmers but they're around his knees.) Nothing fancy needed - save your money, because he'll only be wearing it for a little while!

I used Babylegs for my kiddos. In case you havent seen them, they are like little leg warmers that go all the way up the leg on babys that age. Saved my little ones knees when they were crawling. I also used them under pants or jammies for extra warmth. They are very versitile and come in patterns and colors for boys and girls (they even have some that are black with flames on them). Luna Blue on val vista and williamsfield has some, Target online has them and even some cloth diaper retailers sell them. Good luck!

You could try Recovazon gel on them - it is a pure botanical combination - no chemicals or anything that would harm your baby - it was specifically formulated for joint and muscle support plus being in an aloe vera base it will soothe the exterior as well as penetrate into the tissue to heal and support it. You can check it out on my website - they are actually running a special on it this month - go to: www.shootingstarherbs.amazonherb.net - let me know if you have any questions.

Hi L.- My first born son was an avid crawler and he had the sorest little kneecaps...red and hard from the floor. We bought him these little knee pads that a few companies offer. They just slip right on and then the baby can crawl anywhere and not get sore knees! They were awesome. They come in different sizes too. I believe I bought them from a company called On Step Ahead. You can check them out online. Hope that helps! Put plenty of cream on his little knees too! V~

Your little boy may be reluctant now, but eventually, he will get used to it, fortunatly the weather is cool and you will have long pants on him most of the time to give him a little cushion.

My little boy learned to crawl in the summer and my house and my mother's house both have hard wood floors and although his knees were red a lot in the beginning, he eventually got used to it and became the fastest crawler I've ever seen.

I agree with baby legs being a great product...there is an online store HANDSFREEBABY run by Karen Tuscano who offers free shipping on orders of two pairs. She also has 20% off all babylegs through 12/26/08!!!

I had the same problem with my son. I put a pair of his sister's tights (black ones of course) on him and it gave him just a enough added protection to help. I also used extra lotion on his knees.
good luck M.

I got a pair of adult knee high socks and cut off the feet and put them around my daughters' legs so they covered their knees. Good luck!
