Hello everyone. I'm new to mamasource. I am 3 months and 5 days pregnant with my 2nd child. I was just wondering if anyone had any comments on showing at 3 months. I'm already on the heavy side but I'm not getting any bigger anywhere but my tummy. With my first child I didn't start showing till I was nearly 6 months. I know its not only me becuase girls at work have noticed it also and none of my jeans zip up anymore. I just wanted to see if anyone else had the same thing happen to them. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Hi K.,
I was 125 and rail thin in the Air Force when I got pregnant my first time. Once I found out, my metabolism went crazy. I always ate all of the junk I wanted, but for the first time it was starting to actually show on my body. My tummy was showing before three months. I went to Macy's and the sales lady told me how she never had to wear maternity clothes. Thanks. That was exactly what I needed. If you're not watching what you eat, I'd start. I definitely regret that. But otherwise, and compared to the rest of the responses, I don't see anything wrong with showing so early.

Hi K.!
Don't worry I am on my second child and I started showing between two and three months. My clothes quit fitting before I was 8 weeks pregnant. I am not heavy but am heavier than I was prior to getting pregnant with my first. I didn't start showing with her until I 5 months along. This time, I was buying maternity clothes prior to the 8 week mark since none of my jeans fit anymore. HOpe that helps!

I am under the impression that wth all pregnancies beyond the first one, your body already knows what to do to accomodate the changes that are to occur. So your uterus expands quickly. Your round ligaments have already been stretched to oblivion with your previous pregnancy, so they ease up quickly also.
No worries about showing at 3 months. I had a friend that is 5'3" and MAYBE 120 lbs soaking wet. She showed that early with her second baby. It has nothing to do with your lovely curves. :)

Hi K.. I am also 28, pregnant with my second child, and new to mamasourse. I am 15 1/2 weeks pregnant now, and I started showing much earlier this time as well. With my first child, I started to have a little "pouch" at about 3 or 31/2 months, but this time I developed the pouch at about 8 weeks. Sounds crazy but I did. Now, I'm almost 4 months, and everyone notices I'm pregnant now and feels inclined to rub my belly. I think it is normal, to show earlier with your second. Congratulations and best of luck.

Hey K., I'm in the same position but it has nothing to do with your weight. It is normal for you to show more at 3 months during your second pregnancy. That is because the muscle there have already been stretched there (that is the understanding that I got from my doctor). I am a plus size woman (BBW Big Beautiful Woman) but I was concerned about my weight for this pregnancy. I hooked up with a nutriionist. YOu can lose weight during your pregnacny and they help to make sure that the baby get the nessesary nutrients they need. I eat 5 times and day and suprisingly I get full on smaller amounts now and at time am not hungry at all. Look into it will be better for you, but as far as the poking out more it is normal, but if you are concerned still ask your docotr.

I have been told that the second child you have is the one that you start showing earlier. It's good that you aren't gaining but in your tummy area which is good for us on the heavy side. Don't feel bad you are starting to look like a baby is actually in your belly. Don't worry too much. If there is something wrong the doctor will tell you. I hope this helps.

Well have you already had an sonogram? You be have a mutiple birth. Also you may be farther along than you or your doctor think. You might want to get some tests done just to be certain.

I have heard that when you get pregnant again you tend to show sooner because your uterus after the first pregnancy does not go back to its original pre-pregnancy size.

I think it happens sooner and sooner the more kids you have because with this last baby I started showing at about 3 months and Im a good sized girl so I think its ok and as long as your dr doesnt have a problem with it I would worry much. ;)

I'm 12wks 5days and I'm already showing. I've been showing to some extent since 6wks (I noticed but I'm sure no one else did.) A person usually shows a lot earlier with their 2nd baby than they did with their first.

Hi Kristi! Congratulations!! I began showing as early as 6 weeks with my first child and was in maternity clothes by 2 months with the other 2. I'm not teeny tiny either, so I was kinda freaked out about it too. BUT, what happened is that I stayed the same size for a couple of months and then began growing again around 5-6 months. I had very different pregnancies but gave birth to 3 very healthy boys!

I have 6 kids and the only pregnancy that I showed that early with was when I was carrying twins. You might mention to your doctor that you feel like your showing early and request an ultra sound.

Nothing to worry about most of the time second time arounders show much faster because the muscle in the abdomin have already been strentchen by the first child even though it has been awhile still the secound time it's like your body already knows what to do....atleast that is what my OB told me with my second

Hi, well i only have one child but when i got pregnant i started showing right at about 2 months. So you are not the only one. My sister in law is on her second pregnancy and her body is acting totally different than her first pregnancy. So there shouldn't be anything to worry about...just getting tired of the same maternity clothes..hehe!! Hope everything goes well and this puts your mind at ease.

Hey there Kristi. I am a new mom and I started showing about 3 1/2 to 4 months with my little girl. Every pregnancy is different so I wouldn't compare the second one to the first.

Each pregnancy is different. I have had 3 children (and one early miscarriage before I started showing). I showed earliest with the first...around 2-3mos! I did not show with my 2nd pregnancy until I was about 5mos and with my third I was about 4mos.

well my niece is pregnant with her 2nd child too. she has a baby girl that is 10 months. yeah there moving fast. anyways she is bearly 3 months and i am 7 months and she shows more than i do. everybody notices it too.im so jelouse cause nobody can tell im pregnant, but everybody can tell she is. well everybody thinks maybe shes having a boy this time.i really hope so too. so maybe if your pregnacy is different than your first one its cause your having the oppisite of what you already have. well good luck. be proud show off your big belly i wish i could.

It seemed like I always started showing as soon as I found out I was pregnant. LOL! I don't know about anybody else, but I showed very much at 3 months, and I know two really thin ladies here in town who are showing at 3 months. Both of my babies were pretty big, so maybe that's all it means.
