Need Running Partner

O.K. so I might be crazy but I am running my first half marathon in January at the PF Chang's Rock and Roll Marathon! YIKES! I am running it with my sister but she lives all the way over in Goodyear...too far to go and work out with her. I have been training for about 2 weeks now and I am getting a little bored of running by myself. If anyone is interested in running with a novice marathon runner (I run slow but hope to pick up the pace as the training goes on :)please let me know. I am looking for a partner maybe 3 x a week. We could meet anywhere in the evenings and on some Saturday mornings. I live on Higley and Williams Field, so preferably close would be great! Any tips for training would be helpful as well. I have a plan so far, I need to continue the motivation and a partner would help! Hopefully I can lose those last 10..9..8... pounds along the way...!

Thanks for the replies. It is great to know that there is a lot of motivation out there. I have come up with a running plan and have different partners for different workouts. If anyone wants to join, please feel free to contact me for information. Thanks and I am excited to run my first half marathon!!

Congrats- I too am running with Team Arizona for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Their training is in Phoenix on Saturday mornings, but I never get a chance to get over there. My best friend lives near you and we are both looking to train with others. Email me and we can exchange info and possibly get started!

Hi,
I too am training for the 1/2. I run with my husband on his off days in the mornings so I don't think I would be able to run with you though. I do however have a really great training schedule that includes long runs, moderate runs, and specialty runs (hill or sprints) each week. The distances get gradually longer with weeks of rest (shorter runs). Let me know if you are interested and I will send you a copy of my schedule. I have been pushing my son in the jogger stroller on the moderate runs for just a little more challenge. When I don't have him on my long runs it makes them a little easier. Another thing I'm doing is signing up for a couple of shorter 5k and 10k races for more motivation. I don't really like running so breaking up my goal of the half with these shorter races really helps. Hi. I am actually attempting to do the full marathon, but I'm not sure if I'm going to be ready by then so I was considering doing the half. I don't run in the evenings, but I do my long runs on Saturday mornings. I live near Recker and Guadalupe and run the trail that runs east/west between Guadalupe and Elliot. This Saturday my run is supposed to be 10 miles. What are your runs up to?
