I have decided to start running with the goal of eventually training for a marathon. Does anyone know of a running group or club in West Frisco? Is anyone else a runner looking for a running partner?

What can I do next?

I was thinking about it, then I got pregnant again!! But a good friend of mine sent me to this site and there are some groups around the area...
www.seemommyrun.com
she found a group and the past 3 years they have run the 1/2 together.
good luck...Keep me posted, I may be up for a 1/2 next year!

I have been running for about three years. Just this month I joined Team in Training to run the Dallas White Rock Half Marathon. I train during the week on my own but join the team in McKinney in Stonebridge Ranch on Saturday mornings to train. Team in Training is the fundraising arm of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Would you like more information?

Luke's Locker on Legacy near the Tollway would also be a good resource. Maymyrun.com would also give you a way to measure your distance.

HTH!

Hey C.,
I know the YMCA has a running group. I'm not sure of the schedule since they are opening the new location on Main St. I am trying to train for the 1/2 marathon in Dec. I'm having a hard time finding a good routine. Good Luck

Hi C.-

I have trained for marathons through running stores. There is Run On and Luke's. I don't know of a running group specifically for training in Frisco and I know that the McKinney Run On training group runs down in Dallas for their long runs. I don't know about the Richardson Luke's. I have heard of the Plano Pacers or whatever the right name is....

Good luck, I love the running, keeps me sane!

A great group is www.planopacers.org - they have weekly runs as well as a monthly run with more participants, trophies for top runners, bagels and fruits,... It's a bit far (southeast Plano) but I love how organized it is and I can keep track of my times. Alas, I am also newly pregnant (maybe will volunteer) but definitely want to continue this group after delivery!!
