Matron of Honor Needs Cool Ideas

i've been maid of honor/matron of honor a few times now and a few ideas are: have each of the bridesmaids take part in the speech: 1) Create an overall theme- (maybe each says a funny story of how they met, or what fruit they would describe the bride as and why..something funny)..or 2) you can have the bride and groom sit on chairs in the center of the dancefloor, BACK TO BACK so they can't see each other, and each of them take of 1 shoe off an hold it in their hand....then you ask both of them a series of questions, random questions, (like who is a better cook?, who's the better kisser, who's idea was it to ...) and if they think it's them, then they raise their shoe...its funny for the audience to see who answers what and in the end you can wrap it up with a simple poem or speech.

It's not your "cool day", it is your sister's wedding day. Don't do anything humorous or spectacular, sit down and compose something sincere and loving about your sister and her future husband.

I like some of the answers you've already recieved: not being too kooky.
As you say, "you are pregnant and your brain isn't working properly". ha
I say a nice little speech/ode to your sis.
Using some cute/funny examples of your times together.
Nothing too embarassing.
Your speech doesn't have to be boring.
People like them.
And remember.....grandparents, moms/dads/kids will be there etc.
My sister (my matron of honor) made a nice speech with a few funny things from our past.

How about a song interpretation of your relationship? hahaha. I was at a wedding last night and a few of the girls had this hilarious dance to this wacko song. HILARIOUS. If not (understandably), share a few funny stories, the time you knew this guy was 'the one' and all that good stuff. You really can't go wrong!

Poems are always nice. Maybe one that reminds you of her.

Or you could just write her something from the heart with memories of the two of you.

I went to a wedding a few years ago where when it was time for the matron of honor to give her speech the whole bridal party stood up and sang a song. They picked one they all knew the medley too and changed some of the word to make it fit the married couple. Each person in the bridal party sang a verse and the matron of honor repeatedly sang the chorus. It was cute, funny and so appropriate for the occasion. After the song the matron of honor did give a short speech also. Everyone thought it was great!

Sorry for the late reponse... when my cousin got married, her sister made up different words to the song "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" by Billy Joel. The couple got engaged at a Billy Joel concert as that song was playing. The bride used to do stand up comedy and would make up her own lyrics to popular songs, so it was nice to see someone do that for her! Here is the video if you are interested:

When my brother got married, my (now) SIL's best friend and Matron of Honor did her version of "Twas the night before Christmas", since they had a Holiday Season wedding.

It was funny and sweet, brought chuckles and a belly laugh or two and many "awww"s and a few remembrance tear trickles from the various people in the audience. It was a huge hit! She touched on their days together in choir as children, things their family's did together growing up, school dances, young adult things, when my brother and our family and friends came into the picture. Everyone who attended the reception had reason to feel included in her little story. It was perfect!

I wrote a poem for my sister that had both humourous verses and some serious ones. She did the same for my wedding- it was a fun way to get in some silly childhood memories, new memories that have been created, and wishes for her and her new husband.
