Looking for Firewood - Cheap!

Hi Moms! My husband and I love to build fires in the fireplace but we're going through firewood really quickly! We usually buy firewood bundled at Albertsons for $4 a package. Does anyone know where we can get it a bit cheaper? We don't mind buying it in bulk - we will definitely use it up.

We live in S. Arlington/Mansfield so someplace kinda close would be great!

What can I do next?

I was driving down Broad street in Mansfield yesterday and saw a sign that said "Free Firewood!" It's on the stretch of Broad that the hospital is on (opposite side of the road) There are some horses and land around it. Sorry I'm not exactly sure of the address. But the sign was large and I saw it when I was driving towards 287 from 360. Hope they still have it!

Sign up on freecycle.org and ask for free firewood in your area. Also, there is free firewood listed sometimes on Craigslist.com. I also saw a sign on 303/Pioneer Pkway one day in front of a business west of Coker's barbecue advertising free firewood. It would have been between Bowen and CampoVerde, I think on the south side of the street. I'm sorry I didn't catch the name of the business. Good luck!

Try looking through Craigslist.com. My DH and I have been looking through the Free section in search of some other items and on multiple occasions I have seen people post that they are giving firewood away. They just want someone to come pick it up.

Buying those shrink-wrapped bundles at the grocery store is about the worst you can do; I think those are for one-night romantic encounters. I haven't paid for firewood in years! Whenever somebody cuts down a tree in our subdivision, I raid the pile they make on the curb. I think Craigslist is going to be your best resource for home delivery on the south side.

Hi G.,

I am not sure how much he charges, but my ex-husband sells firewood and it is good wood. I have a stack of it and burning it tonight to get prepared for this major cold front coming in. His name is Audie and his number is ###-###-####. He is located in Mansfield.

Hope this helps,

God Bless
