Hello, I am trying to either sell or give away my King size waterbed. It's beautiful and has an expensive waveless mattress. But, mine and my husband's bodies are not doing well anymore with it. I have back and shoulder trouble, etc. I need and want to get a regular bed with a good mattress.
Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

What can I do next?

I would suggest craigslist.com. I normally go to craigslist and look at the prices for the item I want to sell and price mines the same or a few dollars cheaper. I've never sold a bed on craigslist but had great success with bbq pit, desk, and a few smaller items. Good luck.

Try listing it on Craig's List. www.craigslist.com or .org. It's organized by area. It's free and like an online garage sale.

I agree. Put it on Craigslist.com
People buy everything on there! I've sold lots of things that I thought would be hard to sell.

I would be interested in your waveless waterbed. I also am a massage therapist for the past 20 years. Have you tried massage??? Also I would suggest that you try a tempaturic mattress, they are wonderful. You can get a mattress at Costco for around 700. or so. I have two twin mattresses and my husband is handicapped so he hasn't slept with me for around 15 years. I just have a tempaturic topper on my two twin beds but I use to have a water bed and I loved it. If you decide to keep it you might just get a tempaturic topper and put on it. I am not sure how that would work, just and idea. Thanks and let me know if you would like to get rid of the water bed if you haven't already. Hope this helps. N. M.

We just purchased a new mattress for our queen size after we'd been waking up with back pain and had restless sleep for awhile now. I love the mattress we bought, and even fall asleep so much faster once I lay down at night I find. It really depends on if you prefer soft or firm. I'm more on the firm side. We purchased what I call a 'teddy bear' mattress. It's got a pillow type top that is so soft to the touch, but when you lay down, it's comfortable without sinking in. It's made by Corsicana Mattress and we purchased ours at the Charter Furniture outlet off 35 and Valley View area(service road). Go by sometime and take a feel. It says intented for use 'without a foundation', I just noticed that on the tag, but use ours on our box springs and I like the height. It's a very thick mattress. If you go by, ask for Ruben, he's my brother in law :-) I'm sure they sell them in other places, we just got a pretty good deal here. And, as for selling your waterbed, I'd suggest like the others to list on Craigslist, we sold a king size bed within 12 hours recently. I've never tried the temperpedic, couldn't afford it if I loved it, but I do know I've heard that the memory foam doesn't 'breath' and causes you to sweat which didn't appeal to me. Good luck.

My husband and I just got a new tempur-pedic for the same reason. I posted our queen size waterbed on Craigslist, which is free to do, for 100 dollars and have had several calls on it. In fact I have someone looking at it this evening and two others who are seriously interested if the people today don't take it. Mine is nice, but it doesn't have the waveless matress and yours is bigger so I bet you wouldn't have any trouble getting more for yours. Also a lot of matresses, regular matresses can be fitted into a waterbed frame with no problems.

Good luck!

Well, My husband and I have a King size waterbed too. We'll be married 25 years this August and it was a wedding gift from my husband's parents. We've replaced our waveless mattress once (at 15 years) so its probably time for us to think about replacing another one. I don't know what kind of headboard that you have but we'd been interested in yours. We can come and pick it up this week. If you'd like to know that your possession is going to a good home and not being bought at a local charity to end up on ebay, then give me a call - ###-###-####. Thanks

I'm sorry that you have to get rid of your bed, it sounds beautiful.....maybe you can sell it on that "Craig's List" or in the newspaper. I feel your pain though, I've had neck surgery 2x, shoulder surgery, elbow, etc....my point is it became impossible for me to sleep most nights. I was told about the "Tempur-Pedic" beds by my docs, but they were sooo expensive but I found that Sealy makes their version, the "Posture Pedic" which is still not cheap but about 1/2 and bought one about a year ago - it's awesome to say the least, and worth every penny! The beds have a very long life and warranty to go with it, unlike the foam/filled mattresses.
Tween years are very difficult, so filled with emotions - she's trying to separate herself from her parents as we all must do, but it's scary to do! I raised 2 girls, now 19 and 22 through the tweens - the oldest was fine, the youngest is still a mess sometimes, we just never know how life will turn out for each child, at some point we have to trust them to make good choices based on the solid education we gave them while they were growing up - to make them on their own when we aren't around.....that's the tough part......Keep talking to her, but mostly LISTEN to what she says and what she isn't saying out loud....and trust your instincts, they're usually correct.

A Yahoo group called something like DFW Give Sell or Trade.
To get a new mattress, there is a mattress manufacturer (no middle man) on Haltom Rd south of Hwy 121 who's been in business 40+ yrs. That is where I got mine. And I actually had a mattress custom made to fit the waterbed frame so no box springs needed and still use my waterbed sheets. It has been a great mattress!
When you drive down that road go slow over the railroad tracks so you don't bottom out. Also, you'll think there is nothing down there, but you have to go around a couple of curves. It kind of sits in the middle of nowhere. I think it is called the Mattress Co., but there is also another business called that. He has a little show room to show all the types of mattresses he can build on site. Then either you can pick up or pay delivery fee. I was able to get a 15 yr non-prorated warranty on mine. I've had it 11 yrs.

How about either listing it on Craigslist.org for sale or you can join Freecycle.org and list it to be given away.

I recommend the Tempurpedic mattress, too. If your back and shoulder problems are medically documented, your dr. can write you a prescription for a mattress (any brand) and the store will waive the sales tax.

Subscribe to freecycle.org for your area. I'm a member of the Flower Mound freecycle. Once a member you can post items you want to give away and your criteria (e.g. must have man power to remove from 2nd floor). I find the people on freecycle to be much better to deal with than listing something for free on Craig's list. I think it is because freecycle's mission is to keep things out of the landfill. I tried giving a weight machine to a non-profit on Craig's list and it got "flagged off" - I got nasty emails because I specified that I wanted it to go to a non-profit! I now stick to Freecycle to give stuff away - I've never had any response but gratitude and appreciation for the item and an a sometimes thanks for keeping my stuff out of the landfill.

Hi J.,
I recommend offering it up for sale on craigslist or if you want, offer it for donation. Be sure to take pictures so you can either post them on craigslist or keep for your tax records if you end up donating it. CCA is a great place that accepts furniture donations and will even send a truck to pick it up.

As for your new bed, I highly recommend a memory foam bed. The big brand name is Tempurpedic, but I highly recommend the "knock-off" from a company called Foamorder. You probably save hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I'll post the link below. My husband and I had moved to a new house and decided to upgrade from a queen to a king size. I had always thought that our pillow top queen mattress was about as good as it gets. DH started doing some research and decided we should try out the memory foam. The memory foam mattresses were fairly new and we were a bit skeptical so we trekked out to San Francisco to the Foamorder storefront and spoke directly with the owner and tried out the mattresses. We bought the 4 inch memory foam on top of the natural latex base for less than $2000 and absolutely love it. I have never slept better on any mattress. I would never give it up except to buy exactly the same thing. The great thing is you don't need to purchase a separate box spring. All you need is a slat type (European) of base. We ended up with one from IKEA since we only had a queen before, but if you plan to keep your existing bedframe, you might be able to convert it to slat if your DH is handy (IKEA sells the slats separately).
