I am wanting to plan something special for my husband, for when he gets home. He has been gone since November 28, 2006. He is due to come home in about 2 weeks on March 6 or 7, 2007. Not sure what to do. Any ideas?

I would like to stay home. My mom or his mom would be willing to watch the kids. I have plenty of time to come up with something, I want it to be unforgetable.

What can I do next?

I had gotten this idea out of a book, if you want to be creative and have some alone time you could start getting ready for it now. You get black, white and tan construction paper, with the black paper, trace your shoe prints to lead from the door to where he would take them off, then trace your feet with socks on the white paper to where you want him to take them off, then of course the tan ones for your bare feet leading to the bedroom. Cut them all out, and what I also did was write comments on what I wanted him to do. Examples: leave shirt here.. stop at the fridge.... just let your imagination run wild! It's fun for both of you!

First of all - Thank you and your husband for his service!! My husband was active duty army for 6 years- its not easy but absence does make the heart grow fonder. When my husband came home after 7 months away I don't know if he even noticed the house or anything else... just me. I would recommend just making sure you look your best- go get your nails done, do your hair, make yourself feel beautiful and sexy. All the suggestions about candles, flowers- are wonderful too- just don't forget that the time is all about the 2 of you. good luck!

this place is absolutely beautiful, and the prices range from pretty reasonable to a bit on the higher side. my husband and i went there on our honeymoon, and it's perfect for a little get away...and it's less than a couple hours drive from the cleveland area. they have a fantastic restaraunt on grounds, as well...and a lot of small town shopping in the area (antique stores and such). what's better than a gorgeous castle in the middle of the woods for a re-connecting get away? i say get someone to watch the kids for a night or so, and have a little mom and dad time...3 1/2 months is a long time to spend away from each other!

Hi Sasha,
First of all, congrats on a job well done. Being on your own for that long can be very stressful, so not only will it be great for your husband to be back, but it would be nice for you to get away from it all for a couple of days as well. Ohio is full of so many wonderful places, and instead of a hotel, I would highly recommend a weekend getaway to a cabin. Make sure and get one with a hot tub and a fire place so you can snuggle up and enjoy each others company. Cabins are more private, more romantic, and usually cheaper than a hotel.
Good luck deciding what to do!

I would think being gone that long he would appreciate most anything.
He will miss you all and enjoy the sight and company of everyone most.
I think if he comes home to a nice clean home, has a special big meal planned which is his favorite and a nice chair to kick his shoes off and spend the first night with you all would make his day home the best he could want.
Lots of catching up on.
Hope you have some camcordings of the girls so he can view what he has missed.
With him being away I don't think he would want to go out to a hotel and such.

Ok, I would definatley make the house VERY Romantic. I would make sure the house is clean and dont smell of cleaning stuff!!
I would make him his most fave meal or buy it at his fave resteraunt! Have it warm and ready on the table set for 2. Candlelight, rose petals lying around the table or maybe some heart/love confetti sprinkled around!
I would have some nice music you both like playing *esp YOUR

song,if you have one*

Have candles lit around just about everywhere you can think to put them!! Candles make it so beautiful!!

I would have a nice warm bath drawn for him with candles around thruout the bathroom *even on the tub* put a nice manly scent in the water for him and rose petals if you think hed like that. *i once put floating candles in there for him, of course you take them out before he gets in* OR you could do all that and YOU be in there waiting on him (say your goin to the bathroom and then call him in)

Have the bedroom ready!! Nice clean sheets and blankets! Candles and a good smelling scent *they say men are more attracted to food scents and that vanilla is a natural afrodesiac (SP) Sprinkle rose petals on the floor and the bed (my hubby made a heart shape on the bed with them and had them all over the floor and they were in the bathroom as well, I had them as a path leading to the places I wanted him to go, so either way works!!

I dont know if you have a "couples" store anywhere around or not but if so they have alot of neat, nice, romantic stuff.

I would also suggest a nice warming lotion/massage oil and give him a nice rub down!! He will really enjoy that im sure!
You could even cut out hearts and put them around here and there!! Look thru some of the clearance valentines day stuff too!! Might find some good deals and nice stuff you could use!!

Also A cute lil nighty, I wouldnt go crazy with this thou cuz m sure it wont be on long! ;)

Theres some places online to look for some ideas too! I knwo one for sure is:
http://theromantic.com/
They have alot of cool things there and theres a place where People have submitted thier ideas!

I know i have more ideas I just cant think!! lol

GOOD LUCK HUN!! and HAVE FUN!! And ENJOY!!!!!

Hi S.,
If you have family close (to keep your girls) I recommend picking your husband up without the kids and head straight to a hotel. Then the next day go pick up the kids together and start from their. My husband was on active duty for 10 years. It is so nice to reconnect with each other before you have to deal with kids...who want all of his time. You don't even have to tell your 5 year old that you are going to pick him up. Besides your own children, his parents probably want in on the homecoming. By stealing him for 12-24 hours it gives you time to share the return before real life hits you and him. I know he is anxious to see everybody, but if you ask him truthfully, seeing you alone would top his list. And be prepared for an adjustment time for every one. You have been surviving alone for several months and it takes a little while to settle into a routine that includes your husband. Enjoy, the homecomings are the best! It also gives you reassurance that you can make it through anything.

I think you should have a night of romanace in the home for your first night together. Put on your favorite or his favorite sexy dress and have a candlelight dinner at home with music and all the works. Give him some good home cooking and don't forget the bottle of wine or sparkling cider. Also make sure the candles are scented and some nice music .

Something romantic and close I suggest the Wildwood Inn in Kentucky. Something family oriented...Gattlinburg..it will be cheap that time of year...maybe even a cabin with a hottub. Or the Union Terminal with the MAX and kids muesuem downstairs. Other then that a good home cooked steak meal with salad and potatoes, flowers on the table, a clean house and clean kids that go to bed at a descent time, something sexy to wear to bed and my husband is happy. It will definitely remind him why he's working so hard and why he misses you.
