Seeking Inexpensive but Romantic Idea for Valentine's Day

Last year, I bought a clear jar with a lid from WalMart. I decorated it with glass paint and on the inside I filled it with his favorite candy. Attached to the candy was one thing I loved about him or about being married to him. I bought foam hearts with the sticky backs to attach the paper strip to the candy. He LOVED it and displayed all of my messages on his bulletin board in his office. :)

this worked well for me once... go to the convinent store, buy 2 bags of the lil 50 cent a bag kisses and one rose.From the front door to the bath room you sprinkle a trail of kisses. In the bathtub sprinkle the rose petals. On the shower wall leave a note that reads... how can you not love soeone who kisses the ground you walk on and showers you with roses?! My son to be husband loved it 5years ago when we were dating. total cost maybe $5.

I made my husband a steak branding iron one year with his initials on it. He really likes to grill and he loved it. Maybe that would work for you it. I ordered from a company called TW Brands off the internet.

Hi M., I am so glad to hear that you found love and your right there is no better time then Valentines to express that. I understand about the money thing and if you are like us it falls in the middle of the week and my husband is tired after working all day and has work the next day so going out is not really an option but there are always other ways to express that love. I always make him something he loves for dinner and a desert and get him a card, you can get a cheap card and write what you feel in it or even make your own. Another idea that my husband really liked was a couple years ago i made him a "coupon book" with construction paper and put stuff like good for a back rub, good for a kiss anywhere...etc... you can get creative and put whatever your man likes or would enjoy and you can be as nice or as naughty as you like, I am kind of a shy person but my husband really enjoyed some of my naughtier coupons and it was a good way for me to express some of my feelings that I wasnt so comfortable just saying. Anyway good luck I'm sure whatever you do he will love because it is from the women he loves. Have a Great Valentines Day!!

ok I would say there isnt anything better than a nice romantic evening in w your honey to set the mood for a unforgetable night! Plan on a romantic dinner for just the 2 of you. cheap but very sexy center peice can be done for like 3bucks. Go to the dollar shop. If you have a clear glass bowl already you just saved a buck...lol You need a shallow glass bowl and some kind of rocks in the bottom some call them dragon tears. then you put your water in and some tea light candles to float on top. There you have a nice sexy center peice to set the mood. If u dont have a table cloth for the bed grab a nice red sheet or blanket to make it really set the mood. Make sure you pick a good movie that will lead you to the bedroom to watch it after dinner. You can also get 2 wine glasses to go w dinner most of the time at the dollar shop as well. Adds to your sexy dinner. I try to add something from our annvrsy or something to the arrangement on the table like I put the lil mickey and minnie that was on our 1yr anvsry cake on the table w my floating candle display. I also put a pic of us at his work party in a frame which i got 4 abuck on the table. We did ours last week as he is over the road for work. If you dont want to cook you could order in or do like smiths (bolivar) which has great food and not to high priced. Pick it up and bring it home.

One thing you can try is making your own fortune cookies. You can find many recipes online for them at various places like foodnetwork.com or allrecipes.com. They are fun and give you the opportunity to make the messages inside as naughty or nice as you want. I have even seen some done with sugar cookie dough or pre-made pie crust and red sugar sprinkles on top but I would be careful with those since I have heard that regular paper does not survive the cooking because of the shortening or butter. You can find Chinese style take out boxes at many craft stores and decorate it any way you want. Maybe deliver it to his work or present it to him after dinner.
Another option could be a treasure hunt with you being the treasure at the end. You could make a treasure map with X marking the spot and send him around town and/or around the house (if the kids are out for the night) and leave little clues for him to grab along the way…a single shoe, a bottle of wine, a couple of glasses, lacey panties…you get the idea. You would be waiting at the end (maybe the bedroom with only some scented candles lit) and a big red “X” stuck where ever you are daring enough to stick it.

Try just making a romantic dinner and maybe watching a romantic movie together. That's probably what me and my fiancee are going to do for V-day and our anniversary is the day after and like u we don't have much money.

I a nice dinner with candles is always a romantic touch, so is a candle lit bubbly bath .. tell him your going to treat him to a nice bath.. wash him, and relax next to him.. then have a cold glass of champ. or wine or heck good ol beer.. to relax a bit with.. visiting.. and just spending time together . maybe rent a romantic money. It's hard when money is tight and depending if your children will be home.. sometimes just putting the kids to bed early , having dinner alone even if you have to wait til kids are asleep. makes it a nice night. a hot bath... makes the night worth while

First, congrats on finding that special person!! I have been trying to think back on some of the things I have done for my hubby of the last 15 years and I thought I'd pass this idea along--- bake him some cookies (or whatever else he may like) and wrap them in a basket or box lined in tissue paper and have someone deliver them to his work as a surprise (instead of flowers) right before he would get off w/ a romantic note attached saying you have a surprise for him- meanwhile decorate the bedroom with flower petals and lit candles w/ soft music playing in the background for when he comes homes--be dressed "sexy" and have a picnic-like dinner on the floor--surprise him w/ a back massage and some sexy boxers,ect.!!My hubby absolutley loved this and the best part is it wasnt expensive and we got to spend quality time together instead of going out to eat and spending half the night trying to get a table!! Another idea along the same lines w/ alittle more cost would be to rent an inexpensive hotel room that night, my hubby and I enjoyed being able to spend time talking in the hottub, having pizza deleivered to the room and being together without any interruptions (you could also decorate the room with rose petals and candles and maybe take a bubble bath together- dont forget the strawberries and whip cream). I was going to give you the naughty coupon book idea, but that is already in here...my boyfriend loves that one! Another of his favorites is the naughty sundaes!! Put down an old blanket on the bed or the floor, kind of like the picnic idea, but only use sensual foods...ie..chocolate syrup, carmel syrup, the honey bear, strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, any thing you like. The only rule is, you have to lick, chew, or suck it off of eachother! Don't forget the ice cream!!! Use your imagination and go silly with the whole idea, get creative, bring a blindfold too! Make him guess what you are putting where and make him find it with the blindfold on.... Have Fun!

Have a picnic in your living room. Get a big thick blanket, move all the furniture out of the way and lay it on the floor.
Get a picnic basket and fill it with finger foods, your choice of beverage, and dessert. Find candles that are more in the nature scents and find a CD that has nature sounds on it.
Go the extra step and get some of those glow in the dark stars and stick a few up on the ceiling.

And just enjoy each other's company.
