Good Bra

I need a new bra. I'm average size (36B) and have nursed two babies. I'm looking for comfort and support. I also need undies too, but no granny panties or thongs. Just something comfortable that does not leave panty lines.

I never buy these things for myself and as I type I'm getting poked by my underwire--not good.

I highly recommend Colesce by Jeunique bras. They provide support without underwires and are very comfortable. The distributor that I have used is Jackie T.. Her number is ###-###-####.

I like Hanes and Fruit of the Loom. They have 100% cotton and very comfortable. You get them at Wal-mart.

You need to get a real fitting! Go to Dillard's or Nordstrom and ask for a fitting by someone certified, or I highly recommend Loretta's Intimates in Plano or Flower Mound.

T. I LOVE my bra. I have about 7 in a variety of colors. I use these 2 bras.

As for undies, I favor the ones with thick sides so they dont poke and make that nasty bulge in my waist.
I love and wear these bikini undies:

I stocked up on my last trip to San Antonio when I stopped by the San Marcos outlet mall. They have the best maidenform store there! But you can get them online too for about $4 a pair. :)

Oh and whenever I wear a skirt, dress,or pant that I feel is a little snug or is made from that thin material that seems to bring out every bulge, I wear these hipsters underneath!

IN Dallas in Preston Royal SHopping Center next door to the Tom Thuumb is a bra place and the owner there can hook you up to the perfect bra. She is amazing and soooo helpful. I just forget the name of the store. But if you are standing facing Tom Thumb then its on your right of it.

Hi T.,

After being pregnant and nursing, I have come to the conclusion that life is too short to be poked by underwire...so I went out and bought myself new bras and underwear at Soma. I really LOVE them both, and plan to go back to get more soon. The bra is so comfortable...and has no underwire, yet is very supportive and pretty(I am the same size at you) You should check them out. I did not notice where you live, however I went to the store in Plano at Park and Preston.

Nordstrom's has expert bra fitters who will provide this service for free. Then you can either purchase there or wherever you like. Oprah did a show once where 75% of the audience was wearing the wrong size bra.

Have fun!

Sorry no advice on the bra front as I find them all terribly uncomfortable, but I do have a panty recommendation. They are called Lovepats and I have not been able to find them in the stores anymore. You can buy them directly from the manufacturer though. The website is www.lovepats.com or www.undergarmentbrands.com where you can also buy their Danskin brand (which right now they have a buy 1 get 1 free sale on the Danskin hi-cuts - NOTE: I've not used the Danskin brand so I can't vouch for their comfort but 8 panties for $10 seems like a good price to me) or you can call 1-866-480-0967 and they will mail you an order form. It's 3 pairs for $11 and that includes shipping and handling. They come in briefs and hi-cut briefs and they are good about not showing panty lines. They're not sexy, but they're not granny panties either. :-)

If you are in Plano go to the Hanes Outlet store in the Garden Ridge mall at Avenue K and Spring Creek. They'll measure you and help you find the style you like. There's usually a sale going on too.
I'm exactly like you, 2 kids, 36b, dislike underwire and Hanes got me into a great fitting bra that really changed my shape. I'm feeling a little perkier these days and not so old since the droop is gone. Best thing is I don't fall out anymore when I bend over to take care of the kids!

The best place to go for bras is Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. I didn't believe my mom or my sister, but now I do. I plan my bra purchase to fit in our budget. The bras are worth every extra penny! They last, they're comfortable, and they are flattering. The last one I bought was a Chantelle, and it is perfect! Also, on the undies, try Hankey Pankeys. No lines, and no indentions on your skin. They are like thongs though...but like none that you've ever tried before. They feel like regular undies...well, almost. They may make a non-thongish one too. Not sure.

Ha!
I recently went on the bra hunt. I searched VA to no avail as most things there are too "push-up-y"

I did find some nice ones at JC Penney. They're very plain, but the straps can be worn regular or criss-crossed in the back, which I find gives some added support, plus the straps don't fall off my shoulders. The brand is Barely There. They're probably around $20 -$30 each, but There are often sales on lingerie at Penney's.

If you're really serious about a good fitting, etc., there is a company that makes a great bra that does fittings at the gym I go to. I don't remember the name, but if you call Lady of America in Corinth and ask for contact info for the "Bra Lady" they should have it.

Good luck gettin those gals under control...

I BELIEVE... the IPEX bra by Victoria Secret is the best bra on the market. I am a 36D. If you don't mind spending $50 on a bra, you will have comfort, style, and lift.

I've been buying Victoria's Secret bras (and loved them) until I got pregnant. I didn't want to spend that much money on bras that may not fit in a few months. So I went to Kohls and found the "Barely There" bras. And they do feel just that...barely there. I love them.

I do recommend to go somewhere to get a fitting, first. You can get one or two more expensive bras there if you want. And then you can stock up at the cheaper places. Kohl's has them on sale every so often. I think you can also get them at the outlet mall in Allen.

I went to Dillards and got a fitting by the lady that is always advertised as the bra expert, Madeline Duncan. I had been wearing the wrong size!! Imagine my surprise. I did purchase a couple of the bras they had at the time by Wacoal.

However, I am picky, I prefer no linings, no pads (I'm a natural 34DD), and I'm picky with support because I want my girls to stay hoisted up as long as possible!! Now, I purchase my bras at Victoria's Secret. I just prefer the style I found there. Sometimes I have a hard time finding my size. I am petite 5'4" and 120# so most people assume my girls are plastic but they are not. Thanks to hormones from the hysterectomy, I got a great perk!

As for undies, I'm nothing but thongs. They have no panty line and are most comfy for me. Frederick's has some cute undies.

Good luck!!

I've recently gone through a lot of breast changes myself (I've also breastfed two children and my boobs have REALLY yo-yo'ed in size...). They now seem to have settled into a 34C, but a flabby 34C. So, I've discovered that not just ANY 34C bra will work. My boobs are flabby now, so a 'cute' 34C demi-cup-type bra just looks atrocious, because my left boob just flops over the top of it, but measurement-wise, I'm NOT a D-cup, so going bigger wouldn't help. The bra that I've found that is most comfortable and has the best profile under my shirt (i.e. my floppy boobs don't spill over the top) with the most comfortable underwire is the Body by Victoria Full-Coverage bra. This bra comes in all sizes and is just a nice, simple design, and since it's full coverage, I don't have to worry about floppiness. Victoria's Secret also has a very wide selection of all different styles of panties that are really cute. I don't like tiny little thong-type panties, but they have several styles that are in-between tiny and huge (I like their hip-hugger type panties). If you wait for them to have a sale on their panties, you can usually end up getting them for $5 each. I know there are cheaper panties than that out there, but I don't know that they would last as long through multiple washings.

Hey, T....

I'm with you on the shopping thing! (Can't stand to buy clothes, because I'm just too darned picky!!!!)

Anywho...you might try Nordstrom Rack (their outlet store), or soma.com, too. Both of those stores have fitters, as well as the ones already posted.

As far as the undies go, I really like Hanes "boxer briefs for women"...they are really comfortable, and I don't have any panty lines with them! (I tried Fruit of the Looms, but they don't fit as well on me.)

Good Luck with the hunt...I know how frustrating it can be!

I have had a hard time finding a bra that fits right after having 3 children and with one more on the way!! But right before I got pregnant this time I lost 25 pounds and wanted a "pretty bra and panty set" that also supported. I am a small person, but have a large chest so this has been an ongoing struggle. A friend suggested Fredricks and I thought she was nuts until I went in!! The sales girl was fabulous and the prices are about 1/2 of V. Secrets. I LOVE the 2 bras I bought there and also recommend their lace boy short undies (they are of a really soft lace). I hope this helps and you have the great experience I did with them.
