We are visiting our friends in Chicago over the long weekend and they have 2 girls ages 9 and 4.5. What would be a great gift to take for them? Thanks.

What can I do next?

Hi DD, I think those cute Webkins are all the rage right now! My 5 year old Son loves them and so do all of my neighbors kids (girls and boys) of all different ages! You can get them at Hallmark and they won't be hard to pack! They are really cute! Hope that helps and have a great time in the "windy city". Blessings, J.

Webkinz. They can be bought at Hallmark for $13. They are little stuffed animals with internet IDs. Completely anonymous online fun for the kids. Good Luck!

If they are in Chicago, I would get them gift certificates to the American Girl Place--they have one in Chicago. I have two girls (9 and 6) and they (and all their friends) LOVE American Girls. A GC will ensure a trip to the store (always an event) and they can pick out what they want!

High School Musical, check at Libby Lu for the cute stuff, but they are everywhere right now. Target was carrying Barbies for them at the beginning of the summer.

I would suggest anything crafty. My girls, 5 1nd 10 love to make necklaces with beads, or those foam door hangers or frames with whatever foam cut-outs you can find. The nice thing abotu those type of gifts is there are "consumable" the girls will create and keep their creation for awhile, and then they disappear and they have served their pupose.

Hope that helps,
H.

My 9 year old loves itunes gift cards and accessories - ex: Claires, Icing, ect.
The 4 yr olds at the babysitter LOVE babies and carriers. Books are also good for little ones too.

Do they have access to a computer? If so, Webkinz would be a guaranteed hit in our household! They are stuffed animals with a special code that allows the child to "adopt" them online and then care for them, feed them play with them, earn money for them and so on. It's really pretty cool and the kids love them...
