Formal Occasion?

We are going to a formal event and taking our 2 year old. The men are wearing suits and the women formal dresses. What do I dress my son in, and where do I get it?? I don't want to do the "kid in a suit" thing, just something nice. I've been to Kohls, SteinMart and Gap all they have are casual clothes. Just some nice pants and a shirt I guess, but all I'm finding are khakis.

Can you give me some suggestions?? The event is a week from Saturday.

So What Happened?

Dillards!! Perfect. I got a Polo shirt and pants there, then went by the Kid to Kid over here and found the same pants for $6!! I'm returning the Dillards pants tomorrow, but it was a perfect suggestion.

Thanks to everyone!! I really appreciate your help.

Try Sash Formal at Grapevine Mills, even their suits are only $40. Janie and Jack in Southlake Terrace usually has nice dressy clothes for both boys and girls. I know what you mean about boys clothes of all ages... If it' not around Christmas you will have a hard time finding dressier clothes. I have 6 boys... :-) Good luck!

I would try Once Upon A Child. That's where I just bought my 2 yr old son's tuxedo (he was ring bearer and they didn't rent tuxs small enough for his age). Anyway, I got the tux (w/tails), bowtie, clip-on tie, cumberbund, and black patent shoes for $20. The best part is all I have to do is get it dry-cleaned and sell it back to them. They have a great selection and are priced very reasonably. There's locations all over, but I've only been to the Flower Mound location. Good luck!!

Hi T.,

I took my boys to a wedding this past summer. I did black pants, long sleeved white shirts, suspenders, and a bow tie. It was so cute and they were very comfortable. They looked like a million bucks, and I bought all the accesories at Walmart & Target. Typically the suspenders & bow ties come as a set. Good luck!

I always got my boys "dress up" clothes from Chocolate Soup. They are on the corner of PReston and Royal in Dallas. The prices are a bit high, but if you take the time to shop they have some awesopme deals.

Finding boy's "church clothes" is a nightmare. Once a year The Children's Place comes out with one line of dress clothes for the holiday season. I wouldn't be surprised if that is out, but it will be heavy clothes probably to hot for this weekend. The other place that has really nice things is Janie and Jack. Both places would have their line online that you could check out before dragging your kid to the mall!
