Why not get him a book from her? That way he can save it forever and read it to her when she's born. There's a ton of appropriate books on the market like The Daddy Book, My Daddy and Me (about 12 different books by that title), I Love My Daddy, Daddy and Me.... I could type forever. Then, the card just has to be something simple like "I can't wait to meet you." or "I'm looking forward to reading together."

I mailed a cute fuzzy teddy bear postcard to my hubby from his unborn son, saying that he can't wait to meet daddy and the voice that talks to him through mommies tummy etc... If you hurry, you can get it in the mail in time!

Go to Hallmark, kinda random I know, and get a book they carry called "A Father's Legacy: Your Life Story in Your Own Words." I have given that to my hubby and a good friend of ours for their first soon-to-be father's day. It's a really neat book with SO many random questions that one would not normally think of. It has different sections and stuff for the father to write about themselves. It's a neat thing to have around that kids can look at later in life.

Write your feelings. It doesn't matter if it is creative or cute if it is from the heart. Tell him how excited you are about the new baby and becoming parents.

I used this poem two years ago as our first son was due in July. I printed it in nice cardstock and put a small picture of the most recent ultrasound with it in a frame. I have only found it signed "anonymous" so I don't know the actual author.
I do not have a face to see,
or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss;
I don't yet have a name.
You can't yet hold my tiny hands,
nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song,
or cuddle me so near.

Does she have a name? She could write, "See you soon, Daddy! Next year we'll celebrate in person! Love, Whoozis." Or something like that.
