Has anyone had carpeting put in by Empire? I want to get feedback on how good/bad your experience with them was.

Thanks!

MC

I had Empire put wood flooring in my kitchen, and doors on my laundry area. My kitchen is huge - 16 x 33 (big family, we live in our kitchen...*grins*). I had it put in just after Christmas. I was very impressed with their business. They did a great job. They had a difficult base to work with (part of my house has cement floors) - they did great! I loved their service. They called all the time to see that our schedules were working together. Very fast, and very efficient. They gave me a good deal (lots of floor to cover - lots of $$$) - but, compared to other places I had checked with - they were reasonable. I expected it to fall in the category it did. With the discounts, they were very comparable to other floor covering services. They checked later to see how the job was done - if I was happy or not - and how the workers related to me. I'm a widow with 6 children - and did not feel a bit slighted, or taken advantage of. I felt the security I would have felt if my husband were still living and doing the job himself. I was completely happy, and would recommend them to anyone.

We were going to have our basement and basement stairs done. Big basement. They didn't bring many samples to choose from. The girl that came out measured wrong, so my husband had to show her the correct way. They are VERY HIGH PRICED!!! We ended up going to Lowes! They were fantastic!! We got the 12 Month deal with them same as cash. Much more to choose from and at the time they had a special with free labor. But even if we had to pay for the labor, it still would have been cheaper than Empire. I wasn't impressed with anything Empire did. Now I just laugh when I see their commercials and one of the incentives is a free turkey, they can keep the turkey! Check Lowes or Home Depot!!
Good Luck!

I had them come out and give us an estimate. We even made an appointment for them to come out and install the carpet we choose. We immediatly called and cancelled when we talked to one of our friends who knows a carpet installer. They are way overpriced and I don't think they really had much to choose from. I think I would like going to lowes or another carpet store so I can have a bigger variety.

MC,

We had a family room and 2 bedrooms carpeted and flooring (similar to pergo) put in our kitchen, dining room, and front living room installed by Empire. We also had gutters put on by them. It is a little overpriced if you don't know someone who can get you a deal it is truly easier. Also, they have the free financing for a year which helps with budgeting the money. That way you don't have to come up with all the money right away or put it on a credit card.

I have a friend who installs carpet now and he did our 3rd bedroom for us. It was cheaper but again I was lucky to know someone and I could go to a wholesaler and buy the carpet. My friend picked it up and came and installed it for me. Also, I had to pay for the carpet right away and pay him for his services right away so that was a chunk of change that had to be paid out all at once versus spreading it out over time.

ALSO, TALK THEM DOWN!!! My husband is a sales rep and so he actually talked them down a lot. That is why I don't think that it is that overpriced. It is if you pay what they ask first! I can give you specific numbers if you would like so that you can compare to your home. Let me know!

We used Csrpet Direct (similar concept) and really like working with our sales rep. Very well priced too!!
