I am 31 weeks pregnant and have to deliever at Baylor Downtown bc my doctor recently switched from Harris Southwest. Someone I know just deleivered there the other night and when we went to visit the staff from the nurses to the janitorial people were EXTREMLY rude. I am not the type of person to allow this so I am hoping it was just a one time thing. Anyone have any good or bad experiences?

What can I do next?

Hi I delivered at Baylor downtown in dec. 08 and LOVED it! The staff was amazing.. thats all my husband and I kept saying over and over. I don't think you should have any issues at all. Plus the facility is brand new and super nice!

I am doula and had a client deliver there about 6 weeks ago. It was really a great experience. My client used the midwives and had an incredible unmedicated birth---and everyone seemed very supportive. The only thing i will say is that if you want something kind of out of the norm--you gotta speak up. My client did not want baby to go to nursery or to really be separated from baby at all--so they did all the newborn stuff on her chest and never took baby away--but she had to ask and remind them repeatedly of this. otherwise--they were really great. I do births at hospitals ALL over the metroplex and this is one my new favorites! ( doing another birth there in the next week!)
Good luck to you!

If you are referring to St. Andrews that;s where I delivered six months ago. I found the nurses and staff to be really terrific. They were kind and attentive. My complaint was about the water. In the delivery room the nurses warned me that the water was a little cool. It was FREEZING! Got to my room and there was no hot water there either. Since everything went well and we were all ok...we left after 24 hours so I could get some warm water.

I LOVE LOVE LOVED delivering there. I had my baby with no drugs and when my TWO birth partners were not in the room (for one reason or another) my main nurse helped me through each contraction. Afterward, the nurses were very attentive and I liked every one of them. I would be surprised if you had a negative experience. And the comment about the hot water.... it just takes it a little while to heat up. I never took a cold shower :)

I did 7 months ago and it was great, and the staff who cared for me were nice. The only staff to not let my visitors have me alone was the food staff...the nursing staff would peek in and come back later. Or ask nicely if they could a few minutes. I would recommend baylor downtown whole heartedly.

Hi N.,
I delivered there about 10 months ago and like all hospitals you have your good nurses and great nurses, and bad ones. Unfortunatelly you usually remember your bad ones and that isn't any fun. The nurses I had at night were terriable and I had had a c-section. I was stuck in the bathroom toilet, my husband was passed out asleep, and I called for him first, while I was in bathroom then when I couldn't wake him up I yelled out for someone to help me (oh yes due to the fact I had a c- section I was in pain, and the call help string was too far away for me too reach )and then finally they heard me and kissed my but after I chewed them out. " ONE NURSE KEPT SAYING YOU SHOULD HAVE CALLED AND I RELIED I DID PRESS MY BUTTON FOR HELP BEFORE I WENT TO BATHROOM, BUT YALL DID NOT RESPOND, I COULD ) HE WAS TIRED BETWEEN ME HE WAS KEEPING UP WITH CHORES AT HOME TAKING CARE OF OUR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD AND WORKING. BLESS HIM BUT I JUST COULD NOT UNDERSTAND HOW HE COULD NOT HEAR ME EITHER.
Oh yes and one night I had these same people working, and my husband that night did not stay with me, assumming I was in a hospital I though for sure they had menstral cycle napkins, guess what she said no you have this one bag the hospital gives you and if you run out that is it. Oh my gosh, I stayed in that same pad all night until morning the next day my husband came by and asked this SWEET NURSE SHE WAS THE BEST, SHE WENT DOWNSTAIRS SOMEWHERE AND CAME UP WITH SOME, I THOUGHT SHE WAS THE BEST. She had been with Baylor like oddles of years, she knew how to care for her patients.

I REALLY HOPE THEY DO NOT HAVE THOSE PEOPLE THERE ANYMORE (that gave me a horrible stay), but good luck too you, and there are other things this nurse did too, but I will just let it go.

You are very blessed I think it is a wonderful thing to give birth, so many blessing to you and your family.

If you're talking about Baylor Allsaints, downtown, I loved it. Granted, my delivery was 2 1/2 years ago, but it was very good and the staff was very attentive. The only complaint I had was the little twerp that was going to do my epidural (I sent him away b/c I didn't like him, and skipped the epidural). Other than that, I could rave about everyone I came into contact with.
