I am looking for a female OBGYN for our first pregnancy. We live in the Keller area but I have heard great things about Lewisville Hospital and I am thinking I would like to deliver there. We were going to deliver at Baylor Grapevine but I have decided I really don't care for my Doctor and I head a rumor they don't let dads stay in the room for epidurals and I really want my husband to be with me. Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly! God bless!!!

I have given birth to two boys at Lewisville in the past three years. I loved it! My doctor is Rebecca Collins at North Texas OBGYN, which is just down the street from the hospital on Main St. I don't know why people think Lewisville is a bad hospital. The Labor and Delivery rooms are amazing. I know that Dr. Collins was on the Board at Lewisville. I recently visited a friend at Baylor Grapevine. The hospital seemed so old and run-down to me. I couldn't understand why people chose that hospital. Best wishes! Motherhood is wonderful!

I delivered both my boys (now 9 mos. & 5 yo) at Lewisvile. Both were great experiences. I use www.lewisvilleobgyn.com. Their office is located in Lewisville Hospital. I use Dr. Axline he is great! Lots of my friends use him as well and love him! But there are female doctors at this office. Congratulations!

We had a weird experience with an ob/gyn at Baylor too, he told us he was scared to care for us because I was having twins. He was fine at first but then totally weirded out on us. I can understand if he just said I am not comfortable with it but his manner was horrible for a Dr.
Sorry I can't help with a Lewisville referral but we've used Harris Ft Worth twice now and I will never go anywhere else. Between Dr's & nurses and other staff they have all been wonderful to us and I will never go anywhere else again.
I use Dr Zwenemann who is right by the hospital and his wife is a pediatrician at Southlake Family Medicine (whom we use as well).

J.,
I have not personal experience with the L&D unit at Lewisville but I live here and have used the hospital for other things and I do not care for it at all. My neighbor had both her kids there and she wasn't crazy about it either. I don't know if it's too late for you to switch docs but BG has an excellent L&D unit. I have a good freind who is a nurse on that floor. As for the epidural, that is not normally something a hospital decides on but the preference of the anesthesiolgist. Give them a call and ask them about it before you rule out the hospital entirely. I don't think you will be that happy if you choose Lewisville. But, that's just my opinion. Good luck and congrats!

I just delivered at Baylor Grapevine 5 weeks ago & had a wonderful experience. My husband was never asked to leave the room, anytime he did step out for fresh air or food they wanted to know where he was. The NICU team was in the room for delivery & they made sure dad went with them when they took my daughter to the NICU. I also LOVE my OB & she is located on the first floor of the hospital so she was able to check in on me several times during labor. Her name is Dr. Rebecca Robert & we also love her husband who is our pediatrician.

Go to www.lewisvilleobgyn.com. Their office is located in Lewisville Hospital. I saw Dr. Galusha for my first pregnancy, but there are other female doctors at this office. In addition, they also have a midwife on staff if you would like to see her instead.

I delivered at Baylor Grapevine and my hubby was with me every step of the way. I've never heard of anyone's hubby being asked to leave the room for a procedure. After the baby was born my hubby went with the baby everywhere the baby went until she was delivered back to my room. I'd look into that issue before you made a decision to change hospitals. Seems kinda odd to me.

I delivered both of my babies at Baylor Grapevine. They are now 6 and 1. My husband was with me for every moment and the nurses and doctor made sure to include him in everything that was going on. My ob/gyn is Dr. Angela Cope at Women's Integrated Healthcare. They are located across the street from Baylor Grapevine and I LOVE the practice and the hospital. (The only downside we saw at Baylor Grapevine was the waiting area but I really didn't care about that. I was more concerned with the care that my family received.)

I have a GREAT OBGYN in Lewisville but it is a male. His name is Dr. Rick Gupta (office # ###-###-####). I think the world of him so much so that must of my girl friends now go to him. I delivered at Lewisville and had a GREAT experience as well. My then husband was in the room with me for everything, they would have let me mother stay if I had not told her it was time for her to leave the room.

I delivered both my girls at Lewisville Hospital and was very pleased with the nurses. One of my girls was in NICU for 10 days. Do NOT go to Dr. Vickie Allen. She was my OBGYN for both girls. Luckily she didn't deliver either one of them (I had C-sections with both of them). I'm convinced she is the reason my baby had to spend 10 days in the NICU. That's another long story but I tell everyone NOT to go to her. I've been seeing Dr. Gupta since then and I really like him.

Dr Rebecca Collins at North Texas OBGYN on Main St in Lewisville has been my dr for years and I really like her. She delivers babies at Medical Ctr Lewisville. I had my son there almost 2 yrs ago and we were very pleased with the hospital and a very kind and attentive nursing staff. We'll have baby #2 there too. Unfortunately, Dr Collins was out of town and didn't get to deliver our son, but her office partner Dr Rudy Tolivar did and we were pleased with him as well. She has a nice new offfice but she is very busy so I'm not sure how many new patients she is taking. Very kind lady with a good staff of folks too. Congrats and good luck finding a doctor you like!

The "rumor" you heard about Baylor Grapevine simply isn't true. I delivered my daughter there, and my husband was allowed to stay in the room while I got the epidural. The only time they are sent out is when you first check in and the nurse goes over your medical history. They'll send him out to get you a cup of ice while they ask if you are physically or mentally abused by him. Baylor Grapevine is a great hospital for labor & delivery - all of our nurses were wonderful and your baby can stay in your room the entire time if you wish. They even have a first rate NICU if needed. Good luck!

I had great experiences with Baylor Grapevine. (My husband held my hand during my two epidurals.) My OB is Rost – a great Christian man. I also like his partners Mendez and New. My mom was an L&D nurse at Grapevine when she picked Dr. Rost for me!
All L&D nurses are going to want to keep you comfortable and happy, and letting you keep your husband is a great way to accomplish this. Times your husband would not be included would be a life threatening emergency or surgery prep, and this would be at all hospitals. If there is trouble they are going to do what needs to be done and your husband might not be included. You and the baby are the patients.

We used Heather Caudell who is a nurse midwife. She is part of Lewisville OBGYN and does deliver at Lewisville Hospital. She was wonderful. She stayed at the hospital for almost 12 hours with us from 5 pm on July the third until out little firecracker finally arrived at 4 am on the Forth of July. She totally let me decide when and how I wanted to do things. This was my third pregnancy and wanted to wait for the epidural. She never made it feel like I should get the epidural and the pitocin to speed things along so that she could go home. She works with a bunch of great OBGYN's so if you have any problems they can step in to help.

Hi, I don't know any doctors at Lewisville, but I wouldn't recommend you use that hospital. I have heard from many people that have had bad expierences there. I have only been in the emergency room there, everyone was rude and the doctors were more interested in talking to their coworkers than taking care of their patients. I delivered both of my kids at Baylor Grapevine and you couldn't have asked for a better hospital. And yes they do let the husbands stay in with you for the epidural. (my daughter is 14 mo old so the info is current!) They have a wonderful nicu unit also, my niece was born there and stayed in the nicu for a month. My Dr. is Angelo Mendez, not a woman, but a very good Dr. he is right there on the 3rd floor of baylor hospital. Sorry for the length of this, I just wanted you to be informed about Grapevine!

I also delivered at Baylor Hospital and my husband was there the whole time. The only time he wasn't allowed to be with me was when they were preping me for my C-section. Once that was done, he was allowed to come into the operating room with me during the C-section. My doctor is also Dr. Robert on the first floor of Balyor. I have a few health issues and she always took precautions to make sure my baby girl was safe.

I second Aimee A's thoughts. I delivered my son with my Keller/Grapevine based OBGYN at Baylor Grapevine and my husband was with me the whole time, never made to leave the room when I had anything done, not when I had my epidural and not when they couldn't find the baby's heartbeat with the external monitor and had to insert a monitor into his scalp while he was still inside me. They even let him webcast the majority of my labor for my best friend that lives in Florida, I made him turn it off when it came time to push. If you really don't want to go to Baylor I have friends that have delivered at Harris Methodist Ft. Worth that have had rave reviews for the staff and hospital, you might want to check them out too.

I have a GREAT doc...he's not female and he's NOT at Lewisville...my SIL delivered there and THAT'S the only good thing that's ever happened there to our family. I live in Lewisville and we've had some very serious issues with that hospital.
I have used both Denton Regional(2x) and Presby Denton(1x) for my 3 deliveries. My doc was awesome for my 3rd baby and I have to say she got excellent care(she was in the NICU there for 2 weeks and they were great!). I originally had a female doc for the first 2 kids but she got out of OB so when I found myself pg with a 3rd I had to find a new doc. I saw one doc for 8 months of that pg...decided if I wanted to make it THROUGH the pg with both of us alive I'd better find a new doc and I did and he was WONDERFUL. Dr. Marc Wilson in Denton###-###-####) is just the best. Even my hubby loved him and they talked about taking in a football game together.
Presby is a new hospital and a really nice facility too. The maternity area is a totally separate wing from the rest of the hospital with it's own entrance and easy access. GREAT ALL AROUND!

I delivered at Baylor Grapevine in Oct. 2006. My husband was there through the whole thing, including the epidural. They did take him out when they prepped me for an emergency c-section (fetal distress) but he was there for the actual birth. They were great, and very supportive.
