48 Hour Stomach Bug?

My daughter stayed with my parents on saturday night and ended up getting sick to her stomach in the middle of the night plus some that morning. Yesterday I gave her pedialyte and very little food which she seemed to tolerate well. She seemed to be getting better last night and had not gotten sick since yesterday morning. This morning she ate some oatmeal and crackers plus pedialyte then got very tired about halfway through a visit with ECI. I put her down for a nap at 9 (which is unusual for her, she usually naps once a day around 1-3) she slept until noon. When I went in there to get her from her crying she had gotten sick in her bed. I really thought these stomach bugs were usually 24 hours. Now she is tired still and very listless just putting her head down on her blanket in the middle of the kitchen. I am wondering if this might be something I need to call the doctor about. Is this what a stomach bug sounds like or could it be something she ate? (she had not symptoms saturday night before bed) so far nobody else has come down with anything (knock on wood, fingers crossed, etc.). What do y'all think?

What can I do next?

Poor baby girl... It does sound like she's still feeling down from the bug, which can be longer than we think. I'd watch her, if she doesn't have a fever that's a good sign. It just hurts as parents when are babies are sick and we don't know what's wrong with them. You are in my prayers...
God Bless

Hi J.,

It is common for a bug to last that long in a child. If she can't hold anything down at all, get her to the doctor and make them give you a prescription for a supposatory. Some pedis won't prescribe them but it's never been a problem with my family doctor to prescribe them to my kids and it they can work wonders and it'll get rid of that stomach pain she's having too.
Hope she gets better soon and try not to worry to much........ I know it's hard not to though! : )

A couple of my kids just went through this. A little bit of a fever & major stomach issues. It only lasted 2-3 days.

A stomach bug is going around. My 5 yr old niece had it and it only lasted 24 hr. My son started with it Thursday night. Seemed to be getting better Friday and Saturday then he started throwing up again Sunday morning. I'm crossing my fingers he's done with it this time. When he was 13 mo old he got one that lasted on and off for 10 days!!!

I know there is a stomach bug going around. I am a substitute teacher and tomorrow will be my 3rd day in the same classroom because the teacher has 2 children. Each child has had it for about 48 hours.

I'll probably be back in later in the week while the teacher recovers from it.

J.,
My daughter had some kind of bug like this last week. Fever, throwing up and having loose bm. She had this for about 5 days (Sun-Thurs/Fri). I thought it would be just a day or two, but she woke-up a few nights since she had gotten sick in her bed as well. She ended up having a bad fever on Sunday and had a seizure (don't worry, my child has seizures when she has a spike in fevers. This is not due to the bug!). We went to hosp which is where dr's told me that a stomache flu was going around. I got it Wed. and didn't feel better until yesterday w/same symptoms. Hopefully my husband and 9 month old will not catch! It was miserable! Good luck to you! Hope she feels better soon!
