Where Can You Find Inexpensive Decor for Kids' Rooms?

Hobby Lobby, Goodwill, craigslist, handmade, re-finished, etc. I've been working on my DD's room for about a year and I find little things here and there at all of the above places. Have fun!

Like Ranee, using those things less thought of. I would shop for cards and then frame them. Or even use gift bags and frame them.
They are always made with quality paper an really pretty or appropriate for room decor. Framed book covers, like Dr.Seuss, GoodNight Moon, or other infamous children's books was always an idea. Another, could be their own artwork. Have fun!

I am always surprised by what I can find in Goodwill and other charity stores...

when our last charity pick up truck came? there was a 48" SONY flat screen TV still in its box!!! yep. new. I asked the guys about it. I said REALLY? they said - yep. The lady who donated said she wanted a bigger one and that it works. So yeah - people give away some good stuff!!

After Christmas I will buy the really nice calendars (the thicker ones) to decorate my daughter's room with . You can buy cheap picture frames at the Dollar store to put the pictures in.

I have found some cute stuff at the dollar stores. I got some wooden painted pictures of animals, reusable wall stickers, some wall hangings on ribbons, etc. They have a lot of good stuff. I also have a couple of movie posters in my son's room. Both are Cars posters. We also collect the bicycle name license plates each time we go somewhere, so we have them up on the walls near the posters.

Go to the local craft store and buy wooden letters to spell their names or initials. $3-5 each. Paint $1 each color. Foam Brushes $1 for a few. Hang with ribbon $1 for a roll.

Get some paint/water colors and some 8.5 x 11 paper. Let your kids have fun with handprints or finger painting or anything like that. Put in a frame (Walmart/Dollar Store) and hang.

Put some simple shelves on the wall - put a few small picture frames on them and/or toys and/or colorful but soft decor.

We were recently in the same delima and found a great solution on pinterest.
Get the clear contact paper, let the kids draw a picture on the paper side, then have them paint it on the clear side. When it's dry trace over any lines you want to keep on the clear side, then cut the design out and unpeel it and stick it on the wall. What could be better to decorate the kids room than art work they create themselves. Not to mention you can take this idea to a completely different level if you are crafty. The contact paper easily peels off the wall, we did this idea for my son's room when he wanted birds and we couldn't find any.

I get a lot of my stuff on Craigslist. People often sell all their kids decor that they paid a LOT of money for when their kids are transitioning into different rooms. Otherwise, try art.com or allposters.com and you can frame them inexpensively.

I got my grandson's bedroom stuff (serandipity Noah's ark) new it would have been close to $600 I got it total including lamp, hamper, wall hangings etc for $100

If you have a really special quilt, you can hang that on a wall--very cute.

Target, Burlington, Kirklands....

I get my son's things at Target - he LOVES the wall decals and makes his own picture then I take painters tape and paint the tape itself and create a frame around it. This way he can change them up as he sees fit and seeing that we are renting right now it's non permanent but fun/nice looking!

Target. I just recently bought my DD some stuff to hang on her wall from the dollar to $2.50 section at the front of the store where you first walk in. I got two cute pictures of some monkeys and the matching monkey bank, and a butterfly wall hanging hook for under $10. Yard sales may have some goodies if you hit them up a little early...good luck!

Try craigslist, yard sales and dollar stores. You can even check out a Salvation Army store or Goodwill store. I do not spend a lot of the decor of my daughter’s room since she likes to change it now and then.

You can also make art with the kids to hang. I hang her balloons on the wall after they get saggy, or if she sees one she really likes we do not put air in it and just hang it up.

Dollar stores, dollar general, ect. Go to where the teacher stuff is. There are these wall stickers. Don't ruin the wall, lots of different kinds. I surprised my niece with a fairy room last year. Total cost (I didn't get blankets or paint just cool stuff to put on the walls and stuff to make pillows) 20$$$. It came out so cool she loves it. Before spending an arm and a leg, check the cheap stores... You can find the coolest stuff in there I swear. Good luck!

Target has those wall-decal sets for like 9.99... we've used them a couple times. If you get sick of them after a few months, just take them down and toss them, they only cost 10 bucks.

Home Goods has very cute decor with decent prices.

I like books hung on the wall as art.

How about wall decals? Target has some cute ones, but you can find lots of places that have them.
