Hello Ladies!

I am having a dilema. My husband and I are going to a wedding in a couple of weeks. It's being held at the Gaylord Texan. It's in the evening on the 4th of July.

The thing is, these are people he works with. They are very prominent people not only in Dallas, but the entire country. WHAT DO I WEAR????

I was thinking a maxi dress with cap sleeves? It flows nicely (isn't cotton) and is black and white in pattern. What do you think?

I know this is silly, but, I don't want to under or over dress!

Thank you for all your help.

What can I do next?

i'd break out the black dress or good cocktail dress as well! just make sure it doesn't scream "i was bought in the 80s" with shoulder pads or too many sequins. simple details and accessories can dres up a great solid color dress. think great shoes and a pearl necklace.

also, you don't need to go broke if you don't have one. think t j maxx, ross, or resale/consignment stores. there are name brand deals to be found in all sizes!

I agree with the black dress suggestions, but also remember your necklace and shoe accessory are just as important. Very hard to find the right fit to make a statement. Cache is a suggestions as well.

I think you need a cocktail dress. Go with black if you are unsure about color because it is always safe. Black House White Market is a great place to start looking.

It sounds like the wedding is going to be faily dressy....it would be better to be a little overdressed than being underdressed. I would wear a cocktail dress. I don't know exactly what you were describing but I would wear a evening cocktail dress and yes, black it okay.

I'd rather be over dressed vs under dressed. That said, I would wear a nice cocktail dress, probably in black.

I have 2 dresses for occasions like this, 1 is a shimmery gold and the other basic black.

I buy all of my dresses like this at Neimans. The staff there is wonderful as far as helping and I have never been unhappy. They also do alterations as well if you need it. I always have to buy a 4 and alter it to a smaller size. You CAN buy a very nice dress there at a reasonable price. I think my gold one was $200 or a little less and the black one was much pricier but it is a classic.

Enjoy!!
