What to Use to Get Urine Out of Cloth Couch?

Hello, Ladies!! I am not the best at removing stains out of clothing, let alone the couch. I put my 4 yr old daughter to bed and forgot to check if she had went potty before going to bed. Well in the middle of the night she had fallen off of the couch...it's a long story why she's sleeping there...when I checked on her she had wet the couch. A foot wide circle of pee. I soaked what I could up with some bath towels but am not sure if I need to saturate it with water and try soaking again and then clean it with something or what. It happened in middle of night and it is dry now and, of course, smells! Our couch is not micro-fiber and has a good bit of foam type padding still in non-removable cushions. Any help would be great!

What can I do next?

I use the lysol kitchen antibacterial spray when the kids get sick or have had an occasional pee accident. Although I don't know for sure about couches but have sprayed it on the mattress and cleaned it. Try in a hidden area to make sure it doesn't mess up your couch. I haven't had anything smell like urine after cleaning with the spray.

Not sure, but I use Borax to clean up stains on the wood floor, and carpets. It cleans up the smell so our cat won't think my little childrens' bed is a litter box. It's worked every time so far. Good luck.

The only thing that I know of is time. Don't ask how I know, but let's just say there was a little mishap with my husband's college buddy. We tried everything and I never did find anything that quite got it all out. I would suggest Febreze. Keep in mind that urine is sterile, so at least it isn't number 2! I am interested to see if anyone else has tips.

I was going to suggest the sun, it helps with most things, if you can get the couch out in the sun for a few days it *might* help.

There's a great item for cleaning car apolstry called "tuff stuff." It will take the stain out of the cushion cover. As for the smell, don't waste your money on Frebreeze. Your couch will just end up smelling like somebody peed on a bunch of flowers until the febreeze wears off then it will just smell like urine again. The product I've found that works the best is call "odorcide." It comes in bottle with a pump spray, costs a lot less than most of the deodorants on the market, and will take the stink out of a turd. I bought a couch one time that had obviously been used by dogs as a bed. I used two whole bottles of Febreeze on it and it still smelled like a dog-like a wet dog that had been rolling in orchids. A friend suggested odorcide. I used it one time and the dog odor was completely gone. I didn't even use half of the bottle of odorcide compared to the two big bottles of Frebreeze. You can pick up both tuff stuff and odorcide at Wal Mart.

Good luck.

I know it may sound like a strange suggestion but there is a product that gets urine stains/smell out that is in the pet section at walmart, I can't remember for sure what its called, but it has a hot pink spray nozzle I think it is called Out!!! It works awesome on Both pet accidents and kiddo accidents, I used it when my little girl was potty training. Lots of luck!!!
