Morning,

I want to purchase a Christmas gift for an 8 year old girl . She is the niece of a friend of mine and was in a car accident not too long ago. Since then, I have sent over other gifts throughout the Summer. This will be the first Christmas without her baby sister who died in the accident. I don't want to over do it with gifts, but also want her to know that we are still thinking of her. Initially, when in the hospital, I sent her things like art supplies,a stuffed animal, bead making kits. but now she is able to walk (with braces) so I wanted to send her something special. I am on a budget and would prefer to not spend more than $50.00.. but if you have a good idea, give it to me anyway..

Many thanks

So What Happened?

Oh I forgot to mention, I did already get a charm necklace .. but great idea. I guess I could buy another charm for it.. thanks for the idea.. Also, I am not real close to the family in that the young girl used to go to my son's school but was not in his class.. so because I don't know her as well as I might like. it's been hard to zero in on just the right gift.

You can get her a couple WebKinz. They are animals that go along with a children's website. The parents can create the account and she can put in the code that the animal came with. From there, she can play games, take care of the animals and earn "coins". It's a lot of fun, and the more animals she gets, the more she gets to take care of. Since she isn't completely mobile yet, and with cold weather upon us, I think this may be a great idea!

What about some special shoes for her since she is walking again?

I would also do an angel necklace or something?

Very sweet of you! Merry Christmas

A Build-a-Bear would be treasured. You can get her a gift card and she can take the time to go to a location and make one of her choosing. Or, you can make one for her. I know girls at this age who just adore them and they can have a lot of sentimental value. Girls at this age are also very much into American Girl dolls. The dolls are expensive, but if she already has one, they have a crutches accessory set that would be perfect for her situation. I don't know where she's located and that may limit these opportunities. But, it's worth the research. Both are very meaningful gifts.

my 7 year olds got into crochet, knitting so i saw some kits (less than 9 dollars) at ac moore, beginner stuff, so you could get her a few of those. my kids love when they get to sit and make something. plus it's generic enough and most girls love stuff like this.

First let me say how sorry I am for the tragedy this family has sufferedbat losing their child....how very sad...

My daughter just turned 9 this week and we gave her a gift certificate to Fashion Playtes. It is a website where you can basically design your own clothes and then they send you what you designed. Out of all of the gifts she received for her birthday, she wanted to use that first! We haven't received the actual clothes yet but she had a blast designing the shirt and
Pajama set that she designed. The website is www.fashionplaytes.com.

Hope this suggestion helps!!!

What a lovely soul you are. I would suggest an American Girl Magazine subscription and an American Girl Library activity book/s like Tear Up This Book, Puzzle Crazy or Mini Mysteries. The magazine will keep coming all year long and it is always fun to get mail.

Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!

Webkinz.
Their website, just so you know... is very child appropriate. With a Webkinz animal, they can also go to their website and have an account. They have fun games to play online with their Webkinz pet animal.
My daughter is 9, and she loves it. My son too.

Amazon, E-bay and many stores have Webkinz animals. You can go there to see it.
Or at your local stores.

A Journal, is also a good idea.

A diary. They make an electronic one that is voice activated for little girls so no one else can 'peek'.

Maybe a locket with a pic of her sister in it? That is such a tragic thing that happened and I pray that she has a wonderful Christmas. So sweet of you to do this for her!

That is so sweet of you. I'm so sorry for the family. My 8yo niece and 7.5yo DD are into the 18" dolls. I can't afford American Girl dolls, so we got them the ones at Target that run from $25-35. They also have extra outfits, etc. you can get. I'm sure whatever you send will be so appreciated.

IMO, Since you don't know the family as well as you would like I dont think I would give anything too personal. I would give her something that she would like, to make things as "normal" as possible. My 8 year old is into Webkinz or anything that deals with online. She also enjoys making jewelry. Its so sweet of you to think of this family during Christmas. Blessings to you!!

Hope this help!!
