Vacation to Jackson Hole, WY

All great suggestions below.......and everyone is right it's awesome......I loved it when I was there......if you have never been there before, depending on when you go, take a jacket..........it was chilly when we went, I had to buy a jacket at the Gap on the square.........be sure to see the play at the playhouse downtown and be sure you see the skit they have and I assume they still do on the square every afternoon/evening.

You'll love the stores and the mountains.........I'm SO jealous.......have a great time!

We just got back from that area! We actually stayed at Yellowstone and did a couple day trips into Jackson.
We have a 3 & 6 yo, so we did a lot of hiking and there is this great little lake- Jenny Lake - with a trail around it and even though the water was chilly, swimming is an option. They have canoe trips on the lake, too. You could definately get to Yellowstone one day and explore the southern half or even hit Old Faithful.
There is a ski lift near the area that will take you to top of the mountian and you can hike or ride down.
Great biking too! Needless to say, a lot to do. You are going to have SO MUCH FUN!!
We didn't do a lot of eating out, but there were so many places and one was an organic diner. Looked very interesting.

I have been the past 2 summers and will be going again this year, Susan mentioned alot of good places. We always get a house so we do not eat out to much and honestly we usually only spend 1 day shopping in Jackson the rest of the time we are in the national parks. There is an AWSOME burger place in town called Billys- it is right next to the old town salon on the square. There is also a great Bar B que place on your way out of town towards moose wilson road. (it is next to the wendys and coffee shop). We do lots of hiking, and just get out and enjoy the beautiful things to see. the tramis open we did it last year and I think there is a resturant at the top of one of the ski areas that is open in summer but we have never gone to it. Any and everything in Jackson, WY is neat. There is the Sanke River to float, mountains to climb, plays to see, and beautiful country all around!!

Take a look on the internet and Google it. I'm pretty sure there are some reviews and pictures and basicly anything about the vacation spot on the internet where you can find anything. Lol...have a safe trip if you like what you see..:)

I spent every other summer there between birth until my daughter was born six years ago. My great grandfather built a ranch in Moose, WY (near the Grand Teton National Park entrance) in the '50s, but sold it to the park service before he died (with a lease on it that expired five years ago). It is an amazing place. You are so lucky!

Since I haven't been there since 2004, I am sure restaurants have changed somewhat, but one that I know is still there is Dornan's Chuckwagon in Moose. If you are planning to spend time in the Grand Teton National Park (GTNP), then you'll drive by Dornan's (if you use the South entrance to the park). Dornan's is a family-owned/run business with a grocery store, gift shop, Chuckwagon restaurant, liquor store/wine store, bar and pizza/pasta restaurant. I used to work there during the summer in high school and college. I LOVE Dornan's breakfast at the Chuckwagon on a clear morning. The view is beautiful.

There was a restaurant in Jackson called Sweetwater Deli/Restaurant. We used to eat there for lunch and occasionally for dinner. Lunch was MUCH better... I would skip dinner there, but lunch was very good.

Nachos and margaritas (if you drink) at Signal Mountain Lodge in the GTNP are sort of a tradition for many locals and summer employees. Also a beautiful view there!

There used to be a tram to the top of Rendez-vous Mountain in Teton Village. It shut down, but I heard that someone re-opened it. If it's open, you should take the tram to the top of the mountain. We have lots of family photos from the top!

A scenic float trip down the Snake River - do early AM so you can have a better chance of seeing wildlife. If they do meals, the breakfast used to be good.

The Moose Ponds on the Moose-Wilson Road are great for spotting moose. Early morning is usually best.

Death Canyon Trail Head - there is an old dude ranch (White Grass) and a dirt road that you can walk, but can't drive. If you walk the road just before sundown, you should see lots of elk. That is where my family's ranch was and we'd have nightly visits by herds of elk. Be sure to take a flashlight to get back to your car.

If you like to hike, there are lots of great hiking trails. An easy one is to Hidden Falls. You have to take a boat on Jenny Lake or walk around the lake. The Falls are pretty. If you're up for a longer hike, get lots of water and go on to Lake Solitude. It's a long hike, so you have to be prepared to be gone all day. There is also horseback riding around the lake.

I could go on and on about things to do there, but these are some highlights. Have a great trip!!

I went many years ago and my favorite experience was horseback riding through the Grand Tetons. It was an unbelievable experience and I highly recommend it.
