Pensacola Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the coast.

This was pretty neat.

Not that I have been all over the world, but my most favorite place EVER is Perdido Key, FL. It is my heaven and second home. I have been there 16 times. It is really awesome. I have not been for a few years now (not since a big hurricane), so I'm unaware of it's current condition.

It is very close to Pensacola. I have been to Pensacola beach- it is nice but doesn't compare to Perdido Key beach. We mainly literally just stay on the beach, but there's lots to do within a 1 1/2 hr radius.

Before moving west, we used to love going to Pensacola to vacation (we'd also visit family)!

Naval Air Station is cool--kids will love all the planes and hands on things (skip the bus thing, it takes to long and is kinda boring). We would spend several days out at Pensacola Beach, it's just beautiful there! We've stayed at the Holiday Inn (on the north beach) and at Paradise Inn (faces the bay). Both were fine, but Paradise Inn was kind of a rowdy crowd and Holiday Inn was expensive (but so worth waking up to the sound of waves and sunrise/set across the water)!

If you follow the road all the way west, Fort Pickens is a fun day trip, you just walk around an old Civil War fort--kids will enjoy it, too! If you're up for a boat trip, you can catch the ferry there by the fort and ride it across Mobile Bay. It takes oh, I don't know, like an hour? two? to cross, and you can take your car and go down to Gulf Shores (Alabama) or see what there is in Mobile. Then, ferry back to Fort Pickens or drive the interstate back to Pensacola. Or, don't take the car, just do the boat ride round-trip.

You should definitely eat at "Crabs" (even if you don't eat seafood--I don't). Sit out on the back deck and let the kids play in the sand/park while you wait for you food. After eating, take a stroll down the beach.

I'm sure there are a lot more things to do, but these are on our "must do" list everytime we go to visit (which has been about 2 years now)... Aww, makes me want to take a vacation!
Enjoy!!

dont go the week leading up to the 4th of July. It is Blue Angels week and it will be packed.

If you take fishing gear, you can fish off the pier. You can also drop crab baskets, but we caught only tiny fish. It was fun though.

we went there last year. stayed at www.portofinoisland.com/

definitely go to Crabs. They have hermit crab races for the kids. My son loved it. they also have a great play area, so don't dress your kids nice. ;)

definitely go to the aviation museum and the lighthouse. they're both on base, so you can hit both in the same day.

obviously spend time on the beach. my son had a great time boogie boarding, building sand castles, etc.
