So What Happened?

Thanks everybody that responded to me about losing the weight and my fatigue problem. I just wnted to let all you ladies know that I went to see a Doctor and found out that my fatigue is because I'm 6weeks pregnant with my second child. I guess all the weight loss advise will have to wait until Nov, but thanks to everyone who responded and I will try some of these methods in the near future.

Definitely see the doctor to see if there is a physical reason for the fatigue (low thyroid, anemia, etc.).

If all is okay, then join some kind of group that will provide the emotional support you need to get started as you try to make a habit of living healthy. It's very hard to go it alone.

You'll be a lot more successful if you exercise AND eat healthy. And I find it a lot easier to be faithful in that stuff if I have somebody to pal around with while I do exercise!

Good luck! and you go, girl!

I have had amazing results by seeing a nutritionist. I have lost 15 lbs in less than 2 months--found out I was allergic to wheat and it caused my whole system to hang onto weight regardless of what else I did. The weight loss was a side benefit to feeling SO much better! It's so basic it's amazing--just paying attention to what we put in our bodies! I can highly recommend this nutritionist--Rhonda McKinney, website healthysolutionstoday.com. Good luck

I have to say that I lost a lot of my weight from breastfeeding and I was sick some too. However, since then I try to maintain by walking fast while pushing my little girl in the stroller and I use a 10 minute Quickfix video. I like this video because you can mix and match your workouts everytime so you don't get bored. It sounds weird but when I make myself work out when I am tired I feel so much better! I can totally tell a differnce in my attitude and energy when I work out more. Hope something helps you soon!

Hi L., (my sister's name is Natasha!)

In case you haven't heard of adaptogens, they are a category of herbs that help the body deal with stress, restore balance, and support normal metabolic processes. (A lot has been discussed recently about adaptogens, even Oz on Oprah). Often times stress causes us to overeat as well as produce excess cortisol (causes the body to store fat). Adaptogens support weight management by regulating blood sugar, insulin metabolism, and cortisol levels; aid in digestion; and increase energy. In fact, adaptogens have the ability to shift the body's metabolism to a greater use of fat for energy.

To learn more about fast acting adaptogen sprays (Slim is wonderful for cravings and weight control) and watch "The Story of Adaptogens Documentary" 10 minute video, go to VitalHealth.TunguskaMist.com

You'll have more energy and endurance to work out with adaptogens. Are you weight training? Lean muscle mass will help speed up your metabolism, thus you'll burn more calories! Avoid fast foods, processed foods, and all soft drinks, (if you're not already). Drink plenty of water and eat smaller portions throughout the day.

2 great books that I recommend are: Living Lean, by Larry North and Adaptogens: Herbs for Strength, Stamina, and Stress Relief by Winston and Maimes.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or need further advice and/or encouragement. I've studied health, wellness, and Kinesiology for many years and have a passion for helping people change their life:)

Try energy drinks. Loosing weight is lifestyle changes, not starvation. Psyllium bought at health food stores will make you full, help you do #2,and reduce cholesterol.I soprinkle it on oatmeal for breakfast. You'll be full till lunch!

You may want to tell you dr about being tired all the time so they can check to see if there are any thyroid abnormalities or if you are anemic. With that said I also HIGHLY recommend Stroller Strides. It is "support-group" exercise. You get a great workout, with baby in tow, surrounded by other women facing the same issues you are and who are working to be healthy and fit. You can find information about classes at www.strollerstrides.com.

Good luck! :)

Start exercising. It will give you energy and of course help you start dropping pounds. The easiest and cheapest way? Take long walks with your daughter in the stroller at a moderate pace.

I know it sounds stupid but I bought the Turbo Jam on the tv.
If you are anything like me, I have 3 kids, tired all the time and do not have time for the gym. These dvd's are dance and workout combined, and do the same aerobics that I did in the gym class. It helps me get motivated and feel good, as with most stuff it doesn't just drop the pounds. I was told many times that it takes 9 months to gain the weight so be patient and stay focused, it will happen...

I hate to say it because it is a challenge for most people, including myself, but to lose weight you have to eat less and exercise more. Eating less is actually more important than exercising. A weight loss of 1 pound per week is considered healthy and if you lose at that rate, you are more likely to keep it off. I highly recommend Weight Watchers Online. You don't have to go to meetings. I lost 15 pounds in 12 weeks and have kept it off. I have a lot more energy now, too. Weight Watchers teaches you how to eat to lose weight and to keep it off for the rest of your life. It is a lifestyle change and not a diet. No foods are forbidden. It teaches you portion control and how to make smarter choices of what to eat. Oh, and you don't have to buy Weight Watcher's foods. You can eat what you like. It costs about $16 per month, but totally worth it. Good luck in whatever route you choose.

Hello L.,
I lost my extra lbs with Arbonne products. They also have good vitamins -- natural, for the energy. It's been a while so I don't know the new stuff they have now, but they always came out with the newest products in the market. If you don't know anybody who sells Arbonne, just go to their website and they will find someone in your town.
If it's the hormone imbalance -they have the natural Projestrone -ask you doctor( he will know , usually it's the projesterone we lack not the Estrogen). Do not use Baby oil -- it's mineral oil made from petrolium -- and it mimics Estrogen.
Good luck

Hi there,
I am one for working out at the gym but my husband and I just started working out at home with the P90X system and we love it. Go to www.beachbody.com They have different workout programs. Read and see what is best for you. It will be hard work but well worth it.
Good luck and God bless.

For me, it was Weight Watchers. I frowned when a girlfriend of mine mentioned it to me, because I was not extremely overwieght, just needed to drop about 20 pounds that were still there from my baby (a year later). Weight Watchers helped me to drop it and keep it off.

Just a suggestion, but have you had your thyroid checked? Low functioning tyroid will keep the weight on, and make you extrememly tired all the time. I have a non functioning thyroid due to ablation because I was hyperthyroid, and I can really tell when I need to have meds adjusted because of the weight gain and the extreme fatigue. Go see your doc, he can do the blood tests, and if it isn't your thyroid, he can help you with diet and exercise to help you loose weight.

You need to have a good diet along with exercise. I gained 65lbs with my daughter and lost it all by her 1st birthday. You should eat 3 meals with 2 snacks. I would pre cook some stuff for myself o I would not binge eat because I needed to cook me something. Porion size is another big thing. I did a 1200 calorie diet as well. Good luck. Remember the more you eat the better it is for your metabolism.

1. get a clean bill of health from the doc.

2. once that is done, then start exercising. if nothing else, start walking around the block a few times a week for 20 minutes and build up from there.

3. 3 nice meals and 2 snacks a day, at most 1600 calories a day. depending on your weight and activitity level, it may be less to more/lose weight, the doc/internet may give you a different number.

4. if in 6 months, there is no difference and you really have followed the rules, then see your doc again. he may prescibe a good weight loss program, such as jenny craig or weight watchers.

Try Nutrisystems. It melts away the pounds and I think it has extra vitamins in it because after the second week you lose the craving for sweets which usually means a balanced diet. Foods pretty good and delivered to the door. The better you feel the more you are apt to get out for a walk and move more around the house.
Worked for me with such little effort and I didn;t have to work so hard counting or even paying someone for the weight I lost.
Good luck.

My cycling instructor challenged all of us to write down everything you eat and the calories it contains. She said that 75 percent of losing weight is in your calorie intake. It really holds yourself accountable for every little morsel you put in your mouth. This is what I did while I was pregnant and continue to do it now. Just do it everyday and count up the calories at the end of the day and compare it to the day before. I also would weigh myself and and write that down day by day as well. It really forces you to eat healthier. While I was pregnant I would much rather write down 200 calories for chicken than 200 calories for a brownie. I only gained 20 pounds and my baby was a very healthy weight of seven and a half pounds. All the weight came off within a week of delivering. But, now I know what I can eat and if I ever start to gain weight again I just write everything down. It works every time. Also, try to get moving in any way you can. While folding clothes or watching a TV show sometimes I just lightly jog in place or run around the house and pick up as much as I can. Or you can just turn on music you like and dance with your child. It will be fun for both of you!
