I am traveling with my 10 week old to Florida later this week for both business and pleasure. My son will be staying with my father for the 3 days I have to work. I am still breastfeeding and have enough stored up to take with me but I'm wondering the best way to transport it. The airlines said could put it in checked luggage with ice packs but can't carry 3 days worth onboard. I feel like that may not last too long since travel time altogether will be about 10 hours. Does anyone have other suggestions or ideas where I might be able to get dry ice? Thank you so much!
Meijer sells dry ice....you really want to purchase it the day you are going to use it, please make sure you wear gloves when handling and wrap it in plastic wrap and then layers of newspaper to help it last longer....Have you thought about shipping the breast milk overnight...with dry ice it should stay frozen...just make sure the reciever is home to accept delivery and transfer to freezer. hope this helps

I checked my breastmilk when I was traveling. I got a shipping cooler box - the type you use for shipping medication/food that needs to stay cold. You can get them at Uline or any other packaging type retailer. I just used really good solid frozen ice packs in that container and it kept my milk very cold during the travel. It made it easily over 12 hours with the ice packs.
At elevation the air is cold and baggage hold isn't temp controlled. So, should be fine during the flight. Question is how much time during lay-overs and such.
