Toddler Taking off Pajamas and "Underwear" at Night.

We've been potty training for months. He's doing great during the days, very few accidents. But during the night we eventually had to start using Pull Ups (calling them special night time underwear). Recently he's been taking off his pajamas and "underwear" before going to sleep. He pulls them down, instead of pulling the sides off. I really don't know what to do about this.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Just so everyone knows, because I forgot to say this. We put him in the zip up fleece pj's. He takes those off.

I had a kid who hated his zip up pajamas. he absolutely hated them whether he was cold or not. but when i went to regular pajamas, pants and shirt, or underoos. they stayed on. son#2 would not wear socks to bed either and he still doesn't...and he's 11 1/2.
now son #3, didn't like the zip pj's either and would take everything off but his underwear. we used boxer shorts, over underwear, and a t-shirt for pajamas and have for the longest time, and have as soon as possible. well, he doesn't like regular underwear and would only put on the boxers, with not shirt. again cold or hot. and now....he wears boxers period, no whitey tighty's on this kid. he wears a shirt if he is cold, but most times not. boxers is all he sleeps in.
if he is not having accidents, i would say he doesn't like the feel of the pajamas, they are scratchy to some people and now he can finally get them off his self.
i personally stopped using them when I realized they didn't like them. i think he is trying to tell you he doesn't like them, so i wouldn't put them on backwards.
i think i would buy some boxers and put them on over the pullup and small white t-shirts, like undershirts.
and see if he is more comfortable. or let him pick some underoos and put the underwear on over his pull-up.
i don't understand why you would make him wear the zip kind if he obviously didn't want to. and if he does sleep naked, oh well. i think in the grande scheme of things it is probably not all that important, nor a fight worth fighting. especially if he is indicating he doesn't like the zip ones. he is just trying to express himself.
i have never seen a naked kid go to kindergarten, so i am sure this to shall pass.
good luck,
L.

I put mine in zip up pjs, but I put them on backwards. I'm going thru the same thing - both during the day and at night... my 2 y/o will not keep her clothes on. So at night it's backwards PJs, and during the day she wears overalls with the straps cinched up really snug.

I'm sure it's a phase, my middle child Casey did the same thing. Actually he loves being naked period. (Since his sister arrived he've had a hard time making him understand he has to wear something besides underwear around the house) You just have to reinforce the issue, it find to be naked but we prefer clothes. I would try The backward Pj's that would probley be an easy solution. Good luck.

Buy those winter footy pjs that zip up and then safety pin the zipper at the top.

I would be taking off fleece pj's too. I'm sure he's hot, or your cooling bill is sky high. My advice is to let him have some scheduled naked time. I usually let my boys run around for about 30 minuets after their bath. My 6 year old doesn't participate anymore, but my 2 year old loves it. He loves to run around yelling "Naked Baby! Naked Baby!". Maybe that will help.

I wouldn't even worry about it. I would ignore it, and soon it will stop. I think the bigger fuss that is mde, the longer your child will continue to do this. I wouldn't worry about saying anything to him. When he gets asleep, go in and pull them up.
