Can you share your two-year-old's schedule with me? I would like to know times for waking, nap time, bed time (and what time you start the bedtime routine), meal times, and outside time. I am trying to adjust my daughter's schedule and I am wondering what is usual for this age.

What can I do next?

I have a 27 month old. I let him wake up on his own every morning usually around 7:00 - 7:45 a.m. (occasionally it is earlier) We then have breakfast around 8:00 a.m. then playtime or outside time if it is nice. Then snack around 10:00 a.m. and Sesame Street 1 hour (he now can sing the ABC song and can recognize some letters and I think that Sesame Street has really helped him). Depending on when he wakes up determines when he gets his nap. If he wakes up before 7 then he takes a nap from 11:15-1:15 and then eats lunch afterwards. If he wakes up at his normal time he eats lunch around 11:45 and takes a nap from 12:30-2:30 p.m. I do not let him sleep during the day for more than 2 hours because that caused problems with him at night. Snack around 4:00 p.m. dinner around 6:00 p.m. Bathtime starts at 8:00 p.m.(this is the only time that is set in stone), lotion (the night one with lavender), 3 stories, and then bed. Now, I agree with the other mom that said that every child is different and you just need to find a routine that works for yours. Even my son does not follow a "strict" routine as you can see. You just have to read them and see what works best.

My 24 month old gets up by 7:00, eats breakfast pretty immediately, eats lunch between 11:30-noon, takes a nap from 1-3, eats dinner around 6-6:30, gets a bath around 7:30 and is in bed around 8:30. The bedtime routine starts with the bath. He is in day care full time so it's easy to keep on schedule. We follow it on the weekends too although if he sleeps in he may not wake until 8:00 some weekends and he tends to take a longer nap when he's at home. A routine is Awesome!!! Everyone knows what to expect. My husband is out of town for work an average of 2 weeks every month so it helps us out to stick to a routine!

I have a 21 month old. I work with her and that is what's normal. I don't think that there is anything that is right for everyone. She wakes when she wakes and we have breakfast. Depending on the time, depends on what we eat. Then, we have lunch at/around noon, dinner at/around 6:30. Then, it's bath, book, bed time. I don't believe in a rigid schedule. We really play it by ear and have fun. Nap time again just depends on her. But, I don't let her nap after 4. She is really whining and tries my patience, but I also don't think that you can MAKE anyone sleep. We try to lay down and rest, but it doesn't always work.
