TMI Warning! Need Waxing Advice

Okay. So my anniversary trip is next weekend. I wanted to get a brazilian (minus my bottom) for it. I told Dh I might and he is pretty jazzed for it. I have never been waxed anywhere but my eyebrows before. So I have 6 days from today. I understand you need to do it about a week early or you'll be all swollen. Is this true?

The problem is I have a really irregular period and of course it showed up yesterday. So now I don't know how I'm supposed to get waxed. My period hopefully will be done by next friday, but that's the day we leave. I could get it done that morning. Or maybe if I was lucky it'd be done by thursday and I could get it then. Am I going to look all red and terrible if I don't have a few days in between? Should I just forget it this time?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So I called the salon and told them my situation to ask if it could be done friday. They said to come tuesday. I said "even with my situation?" She said "we do 1500 wax jobs a month. With all those women, it's inevitable that that happens. We just take precautions. Don't worry about it!" Yay! So I am going tues. Hope I like it! I might be brave and get my behind done too. Lol thanks for the great advice, all! Expect for the one suggesting I dye it gray. Wth??

I started getting waxed on a regular basis a few months ago. If you get waxed near the end of your period, it won't bruise as easily as it would at the begining. So you should be OK. Get it done a few days before like on Tues or Wed to give it time for the redness to go away if there is any.
When you get it done, do what the esthictian tells you (sometimes you have to help out a bit) and remember to RELAX!!!! That is key to not being red and bruised. And like Momma 11 said, why not go for the whole package and get the bottom done? That is the least painful. :)
Good luck and Happy Anniversary!

You will only be red/swollen for about a day. You don't need to do it a week ahead of time. Why not do the bottom? It is the part that won't hurt - less nerve endings and it only takes about 3-4 strips to wax that part. It really is the part that is the easiest and less painful. You should go for it! You and your husband will love it!

The key is to go to a really good waxing place. Check Yelp for recommendations. If the esthetician knows what she's doing and they use good wax, you won't have redness or bumps. Take a little Tylenol first, about an hour before you go, and that will help it not be quite so painful. I'd set the appointment for Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. You'll be fine. Have a great trip!

Why not just use Nair or something and shave what is missed?

The only advice I have is that you most like will feel more sensitive to pain during your period. When I laser my bikini during my period, it hurts WAY more than lasering when I'm not on my period!

So sorry this had to happen! :(

My advice is to NOT go forward with it. It is extremely painful and is especially painful during one's period (even if you are at the end it will be hard).

I would suggest using a Venus trimmer (google it for info) -I just found it and love it. It is not the same at all a a brazillian but definitely gets things manageable. Then use a razor, etc. for whatever you need to. FORGET IT THIS TIME!!!!!!!!!! `Been there done that...!!!

I would say yes, if this is going to be your first time then you may become swollen, bruised and possibly break out! I did the WHOLE thing 3 days before my wedding and the night of my wedding I was all bruised and blue! But now i'm use to it so it doesn't bother me. I don't go to a salon to get it done, I do it on my own. If your soo worried then why not just snip and shave it? (sorry to put it that way! lol) But if your going to have it professionally done then they will know what and how to do it just as long as you go to a good salon. Good Luck! Hopefully it won't be as painful for you as it was for me my first time! LOL...
P.S.S....Happy Anniversary too!!!! Hope you have a wonderful trip!

I've never done a Brazilian. I usually do the French - a strip left....

You need a few days to let your body recover from it....you can get red and swollen...I don't know your body...i would talk to the person you want to do this and see what they say...maybe try a normal bikini wax FIRST to see how your body reacts then go for the Brazilian?

OH YEAH!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!

Do not get it done the "day of" because you could have a reaction to it.
I did when I had mine and was swollen for 2 weeks plus.
I never got another one again.
I seriously thought something was wrong but I think she was new, the wax was too hot and she kept going after the same spots. Eek.
Not a fan.
If you want to do it, do it far enough ahead of time.
Or maybe wait and do it another time when you have more time until you leave.
Not sure they would want to wax you on your period so I just say...wait!
Sorry probably not what you want to hear right now. :(
