Time Change - How to Prepare

My 5 month old is just starting to get into a sleeping (night and nap) schedule. I'm afraid the time change coming up will mess with her. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

no, it should not mess with her schedule, just do everything a half hour later (keep a watch set to spring time in baby's room) than usual.. then add another half hour until you are on the current (fall) time...

Then in spring, take it half hour at a time backwards... baby should not even notice a difference. It just gets darker earlier now, that's all.

Daylight Savings doesn't end until November 6th. Your baby will only be a few weeks older than she is now. She won't be able to tell time. ;-)

Just follow her lead on when she's hungry and when she feels like napping, especially if you don't work out of the home and don't have to worry about following any routine except for hers.

Just go by her cues. Not the clock.
Keep to a routine. Since she has naturally started to have a pattern about napping and sleeping.

Feed on-demand 24/7, day and night, and before naps/bedtime. Go by her cues.

An infant/baby, will get tired and ready for a nap... after about 2 hours of being awake. Many times, even less. Or 3 hours max, after waking at any time.
Infants, nap a lot. They need to, they are growing so much and developing.

I change my clock on the friday night before the whole Sunday morning change... seriously it never made a difference to my kids at all ever. I usually embrace the change instead of being negative about it. Makes it more fun that way.

I have read you should just put them to bed at the same "time" by the clock - so will be an hour different for her body but that they learn by social cues and what not (for example, I've had my bath so must be time for bed, now.) So, we're moving clocks back, right? So you will just put her to bed an hour earlier than she's used to going but your whole schedule will be shifting so she'll be fine in no time. My son was the same age as your daughter last year when the time change happened and he was on a very good routine. That's what we did and he didn't seem to notice at all and we just followed what the clock said!
