I have 2 kids, 3 and just turned 1, and my hubby and I had decided we were done with kids, even sold all our baby gear this summer. We just bought a new house with only 3 bedrooms.Because we were done with kids, right? And suprise! Last week I started having that "I'm pregnant" feeling but got a negative test. This morning I decided to just use the other test that came in the pack completely convinced it would come back negative too. Then came the faint second line! OMG I am just feeling so overwhelmed, scared, nervous, tenatively excited...I don't even know what I feel right now. Wow. 3 kids!? I guess I'm just looking for some encouragement from mamas with 3 kiddos that everything will be just fine. I know it will, and of course we'll love this baby as much as we love our other 2, but holy cow I'm just overwhelmed! My second will not even by 2 years old when the baby comes along. Is the 3rd as easy/hard as I've heard it is?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well now I REALLY don't know what to think. I took 2 tests yesterday, both faint positives. Then this morning I thought "just to be sure"...so I took a test first thing this morning...and it was negative. And surprisingly enough, I feel so disappointed. I thought I didn't want another, but now I really feel sad that I got a negative test this morning. What's going on!? I don't know if I'm really preggers or not!

My 3rd is the light of my life and she's only 10 months younger than my 2nd. I had them back to back. They are best buddies. I couldn't be more happy about it. We have a 3 bedroom and it works fine. You can go to a 2nd hand baby store to pick up essentials. Trust me, in time, you will see what a lucky star you were under when you got pregnant with #3.

Totally awesome. Parenting is as hard or easy as we make it. Yeah, it's emotionally taxing sometimes. But just getting up for the day and facing the world is emotionally taxing. I can't think of better news for a young couple :) Congrats!

It will end up working out. The 3rd will blend in to your family. Are there difficult times-yes. Those times usually only last a few minutes & work themselves out.

I have 3- 4.5 yrs, 2, and 7 mos. Yes, it is an adjustment, but for me, going from 1 to 2 kids was MUCH harder than 2-3 has been.

My middle child was 22 mos when my baby was born. I was worried about how it would be for him, but honestly, he has been GREAT with his baby brother. My kids are just in love with each other (of course, they still have normal sibling fights, but that happens with just 2 as well.)

Congrats Mama! You have spared yourself from a lifetime of wondering, "Should we have had just one more?" ;-)

We have 3 and the only difference going from 2 kids to 3 has been the dang laundry! I've thought that it has been pretty easy, but our son was a very content baby and our girls mother him as much as I do.

You will be fine. Once you get in to a routine it will be a lot easier. My second one was only 20 months old when number three was born. I worried about how hard it was going to be with them so close in age, but my third one was my easiest baby by far, so it was not a hard adjustment for me at all. I thought going from none to one was the hardest. I can't imagine her not being a part of our family. We also have a three bedroom house. The two oldest share, and the baby has her own room. You can make it work. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Just relax! It will all work out. Our first two are just over a year apart in age - and we all survived, hehe.

Our 3rd is a precious gift. We love her to pieces and she really just fits right in with the family, hehe. We also have a 3 bedroom house - the kids will survive sharing a room, it will be ok!

Congrats and really enjoy!! You have just been given a great gift - another life :)

We were the same way, and my 3rd gave me a faint line and now a lot of laughs. He is 4 and I can't imagine life without him. It was a lot to handle, seeing as I had my first two at 20 and 22, I didn't plan on a 3rd at 24. It was a lot of work when they were youunger, I'm not going to lie. But now it is amazing. They are great friends, protect each other from bullies, and it's just amazing to watch them grow up together :). My 2nd was a month shy of being two when my last was born, and my oldest was 3 months shy of 4...it works :).

AWWW Congrats Mama!!! It WILL be OK. I have three...must agree with whoever that going from 1-2 was a bigger transition. We went back and forth for a long time on whether or not to have #3. As soon as we decided BAM!!!! I was pregnant. I was thinking NOW WAIT I want to think about this a bit more!! LOL! Nope decision made! He is ornery, and adorable and I wouldn't trade him for the world. My other two were a bit older though and helped out. You will be a bit crazed for a while, but you will get the pattern, the routine and you will wonder how you ever lived without #3.

Congrats!! Congrats!! Congrats!!

You know, I read somewhere that giving away the baby stuff causes pregnancy!

Seriousky though, all my friends with 3 or more say that the biggest adjustment is going from 1 to 2, after that it gets a lot easier.

I got pregnant accidentally with my first, under the understanding that after 7 years of trying and trying with my first husband, 2 miscarriages, and 1 stillbirth. I thought I was just NOT going to be a mom, even though doctors told me there wasnt anything wrong with me, but more with my ex. It didnt matter I had a mental block about having kids. SOOOO when i was foolin around with my now husband, we had sex literally one time and my daughter was conceived. Through out the entire pregnancy I was terrified I would lose her, though the baby was fine and it was a smooth very fun pregnancy. I was 30 and I didnt want another one for about 5 years and then i was going to be done. Well husband came home from 9 month over sea work related job, we jumped in bed, he had to go back to the east coast for a 2 more month stint 3 days later. 4 weeks later I got a positive pregnancy test and my oldest was just about 2. ACK plan blown outta water, but still not bad right?? 2 girls, young beautiful healthy things.. nothing could go wrong, I thought... 35 I am not feeling well one night in early March... had been with my husband in sim instance of work related chaos. I say "PLEASE let it be the flu and stress of a 3 year old and a 16 month old" The gods were not so smiling... 4 positive tests later (apparently I thought they were defective) I see that I have 3 kids under 5. BOO hooo. We are ok financially but it was still pretty shocking and disappointing I didnt have better birth control skills. (I cant take reg BC do to medical issues, and I thought that the lack of sex in our lives and charting my cycle was sufficient but really its not) so we got our son, who just turned 1 in October. I was going to get my tubes tied but had complications to a epidural and couldnt. So we are super careful now, and I plan to get on something like Mirena or sim, cause a 4 would just be fruit basket upset for me. I would go bananas.

For us going from 1-2 was a huge adjustment. We're done but have a close neighbor who could have written this post a year ago. Anyway she swears that while she's busy and some days are crazy, going from 2 to 3 was nothing like going from 1 to 2. They ended up with 2 boys and a girl in their 3-bedroom house. Mom & dad have a room, the boys have a room, and the girl has her own room. Works just fine. Congratulations!! this baby will LOVE hearing how he/she was an awesome surprise for mommy & daddy!

I have 4. It will be ok. Even in a 3 bedroom house your kids can share a room. They are so close in age and as long as they are the same sex they can share a room. I have 2 that are 19 months apart. It was great because they got to share so much. They are good friends to play with.

Congratulations!! I know..I know..the surprise hasn't worn off yet to move on to the congratulatory and excited phase.

Our 3rd is 5yrs old and such a joy. There is just something about that little guy that has made our family closer. He was an easy going baby and still so easygoing. He makes us laugh all the time and the older two adore him.

Take each day at a time, get sleep when you can and try to keep to a schedule...it will be crazy for awhile because they are so young and close together.

Good luck and best wishes!!

Congrats!! I have 3 boys, ages 4.5, 2.5, and 6 months. It has been beautiful so far and my other boys love their little brother.

It will not be as challenging for sure because you have plenty of experience. As far as clothing and toys - make sure you use freecycle.org and see if you can get some hand-me-downs from friends / family. Don't know what you can do about the 3 bedroom place but perhaps you can put same sex kids together? You will figure this out - and you will enjoy it - it is just LOVE!! :D Good luck!

I was in the same boat as you are now back in April 2009. I had a just turned 4 yr old, a 1 yr old, and 2 days after my 1 yr old's birthday I found out we were pregnant despite faithful use of contraception. I cried for a few days and then I decided to make the best of it. It was VERY difficult having the 2nd and 3rd so close, just 20 months apart to be exact, but looking back I wouldn't have it any other way. The youngest 2 play together now at 21 months and 3 1/2 yrs. We also have a 3 bedroom house and it works just fine. Actually, I don't have time to clean any bigger house anyway. Just take one day at a time. You will make it through and some day, like me, you will be so happy for the "surprise blessing" as I like to call it. Congrats to you and your husband! Sometimes life's biggest challenges are the biggest blessings. Nurse Midwife Mom of 3

I'm a mom of 3 also, 4, 2 and 5 months. The beautiful thing about having 2 siblings is that I've noticed you stay closer with them as you grow up. When there are only 2 of you, you can fight and there's no middle man. With 3 there's always a neutral party to bring you back together. Three kids is work for sure but it will be so nice for them as they get to grow up together.
I was freaked out too, but it's not so bad after all :o)
