Allergic reactions are caused when the body tries to compensate for environmental circumstances. Adding herbs to her diet that boost the immune system and protect against environmental toxins, as well as flush them from the body, is essential. Also, start reading the labels of all the foods you buy - preferably before you buy them. Highly processed foods with chemicals and preservatives are common in causing "allergic" reactions. Become aware of what each ingredient is and if you don't know (and can't find out) what something is avoid eating it. I am a certified herbal consultant so feel free to contact me with any questions regarding specific herbs I would recommend.

Give her some Benedryl to relieve the symptoms, its an antihistimine. Also, call your pediatrician and see what he or she has to say. You may be referred to an allergy specialist to pinpoint exactly what she is allergic to. So sorry she's so miserable. Hope she's feeling better soon.

Hi J.,

I have a lot of expertise in this area and this sounds difficult to address in an email. Your daughter could be responding to something new that was presented or something she's been exposed to long-term that her body was building up a resistance to over time and just "snapped", so to speak.

I have several natural allergists you may want to see. Some of them are listed on my resource center ().

EXAMPLE: Last week my son woke up absolutely miserable with symptoms just like your daughter's. By the time he got home from school, he was fine. Long story short, we discovered it was a new blanket he got that hadn't been washed yet.

Best wishes to you and your daughter! :)

Benadryl works the best for taking care of symptoms quickly, it may make her sleepy though if she's never taken it. Sometimes kids get restless after taking Benadryl too, it just depends. She should also get checked out with an allergist, so they can do testing and see what she is allergic to. If her symptoms are coming back between now and when you see the doctor then maybe try something over the counter that lasts longer, like Zyrtec or something similar. It's a little pricey but the generic works just as well and is much cheaper. There are also eye drops available over the counter for red, itchy eyes from allergies. Hope this helps!

It sounds like normal allergy season. I give my kids Spectrum OPC3. It is a supplement that helps with allergies. You mix the powder with water and drink it. It is sweet and our kids love the taste. If you want to get more info let me know and I will give you the info of where to get it.

Hi J.,
I haven't read your other responses, but I wanted to tell you that you can give your daughter some Benadryl Liquid. Benadryl is often used for allergic reactions. Then I would call your doctor and make an appointment. Make a list of everything your daughter ate, and touched that particular day as well to help the doctor determine what caused the reaction. Even makeup, if she was playing in that as well.
Hope this helps.

My son is on Singular. (SP?) I love it. My friend is a RN ad suggested it. after we tried everything. I had him tested for food allergies and he is allergic to Dairy and Wheat. Also, very allergic to seasonal allergies. Doc said that singular would benifit from all angles. Mine son kept having the watery eyes and runny nose and always got ear infections because of the drainage. He has been on it for 2 months and he is PERFECT! I love it. We still limit his dairy, but it is hard with all the foods that have cheese and milk in it. The medicine helps. Good luck.

Hi!
My daughter gets the same way every once in a while. I use "Allergy Relief" in a green box that I get at Vitamin House located at 99th ave. and Bell Rd. on the Southeast corner. It is homeopathic and works great! I runs about 6 or 7 dollars. Hope this helps!

The runny nose, red eyes sounds like normal allergies. My daughter and I take Zyrtec. But, what works for one person may not work for another. Clairitin didn't work for us, but others get relief from it. Is the itching in one area or all over ? If it is in one area, try hydrocortisone cream. Eucerin lotion may be helpful too. Could it be from a pet or have you changed laundry detergent ? Otherwise check with your Dr.

J.,
Like everyone has been saying Benedryl works great! I also had terrible allergies as does my son and some of the things that made them worse was the cleaning products my mom used, the bleach was the worst! Call me if you want and I will tell you what I use in my home to keep me and my son from all of that at home!
