Seeking suggestions for a good quality double stroller. When baby #2 comes I will need one to accomodate both a newborn and a big toddler (27 lbs at the moment). I want something lightweight & easy to steer-would as prefer the side-by-side type. Any advice would be appreciated! thanks!

I am a mother of twins and i do not suggest the graco side by side stroller. It was nice when you were out in the open but, it is double wide and most doors are not.

Hi I just bought an evenflo tandem stroller, it comes with a bar to accomadate an infant car seat in the front so the older child can sit in back in the wider seat, It has a side step so he can get in and get out. I also had a jeep double stroller, its really colorful and strong, on the jeep stroller I liked the canopy, covers a bit of the kids, better than the evenflo, these arent side by side though. Also, the evenflo has a section for cups and snacks attched to the back of the front seat for the kid in the back. The jeep has the snack tray and cup holder across the back seat. They both have very nice reclining position but I prefer the front reclining position on the jeep stroller for when the young one get a little older and sitting up. Hope this helps.

I have 3 yr old twins who we used Graco side by side for. Would not fit through most doors or it was very tight. It was easy to manage as long as there was plenty of room. We now have a 1 yr old and a triple stroller, it is long ways and much easier to move through doors and everything than the double was. I suggest a long stroller than side by side, just put the baby in the back to begin with but switch if your new baby starts to pull the older ones hair. That was another mom of twins problem with a long was they would pull the others hair. Good Luck!

Hey, I have a 2 1/2 year old, boy, and a 16 month old girl. We have the Jeep Wagoner Double Tandem Stroller. For a double stroller, its not too bad as far as weight goes. I already had an Eddie Bauer travel system and that car seat fits right into the double stroller no problem. This stroller also has a steering wheel & horn for the front passenger which keeps my little guy happy as well. Also the storage is great. The compartment runs along the whole stroller and also has a zippered area in the middle to make things easier to reach. Very nice. Also handles very well as far as pushing it around. Heavy, when you have two little munchkins in it, but that's to be expected. Not hard to fold or unfold either.

And just a little suggestion, if you choose to buy this stroller, my mother-in-law bought this for a christmas present for us... we got it right on Jeeps website & paid less money than what you would have if you bought right out of a store. I believe it might have been the previous years model, clearance.. whatever, it was worth it.

With a two year old and a new baby I was having the same problem finding the right stroller. I bought a Peg Perego Aria Twin MT. It is very light (14lbs.), I can open with one hand while holding the baby, and it doesn't take up much room in my trunk. It is so easy to push and maneuver, I love it.
One problem is it does not accomadate a baby carrier, but the seats lay back and the newborn can be strapped in. It is also a little on the pricey side, over $300 new but you can look around for a used one or try E-Bay. I highly recommend going to a website that does reviews on strollers before you buy.
Good luck!

Hello J.,
I would HIGHLY recommend a double jogging stroller (even if you're not a jogger :). It's a side-by-side and has reclining seats that work fine for an infant. I just shoved some blankets around the sides of my baby, and she was happy as a lamb. Get the kind with the front wheel that swivels (is not fixed in place), as it is much easier to turn.
We have an InStep Safari TT and I absolutely love it! We actually got it from Play It Again Sports, which was great because we could try it out before we bought it. I think we paid between $200-250 for it. They retailed about the same on the internet, as I recall, but we didn't have to pay shipping.
We previously had an old Graco (not a side-by-side), and I had all sorts of trouble with it. The jogger is lighter, easier to push & turn (can do it one-handed), and collapses easily with one hand as well. You do have to have a minivan or SUV to fit it into, though.
Good luck!

The typical strollers you see, the graco duoglider, evenflo take me too etc are going a bear to push. If you are looking at Babies R Us mainly your other choice would be the Combi Twin Savvy or the Peg Perego Aria Twin. Both have small seats so depending in the size of the 27 lber that could be an issue so I would try him in it. Of those 2 I would recommend the Combi over the Peg. The Combi has a flat recline and enclosable seat for a newborn, it is also a bit more stable and easier to steer one handed b/c of the 3rd set of rear wheels in the rear middle. Babies R Us carries the sport model which does not have an adult cupholder or child tray but you can order the EX model online which has both.

If you dont mind ordering online though there are also the Maclaren side by side doubles and they some of those have bigger seats and higher weight limits. You can check out maclarenbaby.com for info on their different models. There are also the higher priced models online as well. Some real favorites are the Mountain Buggy Urban double, the Baby Jogger City Series double, and the Phil and Teds E3. But you would be looking at over $500 for one of these. But if you have that to spare dont let the jogger look of the first 2 scare you, they have swivel wheels so steer well and they are not too wide to fit through a standard doorway so can make it in the mall

I have a Mountain Buggy Urban Double. It is a good quality stroller, but it can be tough to fold. Plus, it is heavy. For a side by side it fits through doorways well. I really like having the ability to unlock the front wheels for walking on pavement, and lock them to go offroad.

I would not recommend a side by side b/c they are so wide and it's difficult to get around stores, crowds, etc.

I got the front and back double stroller from Target (it was around $90) and I didn't like it very much at all. It wasn't made that well (a wheel feel off in the middle of a walk) and it was so bulky and a real pain to haul even in my SUV. I eventually got the sit and stand from Target. It's a little bulky but I guess there's really no way to avoid that since they are built for 2. If your toddler would stay in the sit and stand I would recommend it. Hope this helps.

I had a Maclaren side by side. It was the twin traveler. I liked it because it fit through doors and was easy to steer, but it was very hard to fold and unfold. You definetly cannot do it with a baby in your arms and it was heavy. It is a very good quality stroller and would last a long time, but if you are worried about the folding while holding a baby-- I would stay away from it. A friend has the Peg Perego tandem stroller and she loves it. She has no complaints. Good Luck!

I have a Graco DuoGlider & I love it. It's not side by side, though. It's easier to steer & push than my single stroller. You will need a Graco infant carrier for your baby. I already had an Eddie Bauer carrier but borrowed a Graco one. When shopping make sure you put your son in to see if he fits. My son was too big for the front seat of some models. Babycenter.com has reviews that I've found helpful.
