Any Advice on a Stroller for Two?

I have a new beautiful baby girl and need a stroller that will accommodate an infant and a 20 month old. My 20 month old needs a stroller with the food tray as sometimes walks are the only time I can get her to eat. Any advice? One friend suggested the BOB but I don't know how that will work with an infant. Any body prefer the side by side options versus the one in front of another strollers? I really like the idea of the side by side for when my daughter is no longer in the car seat, but what until then? I really don't want to buy two... I've looked online and at some stores and resale shops but really want some input from others who've had a stroller for kids this age. Thank you all for your advice!

The popular front to back type of Graco's are great for infants only IME. They are bulky and my children grew out of it too quickly. I REALLY like the Schwinn side by side type. They steer like they are on rails! Height is not such an issue like it is with the Graco. It folds and the front wheel swivels. Best Wishes.

I LOVE my combi side by side. Check e-bay. I got mine new in the box for about 1/2 of what they sell for in the store. They are very light weight and fit through any standard door.

C., I just wanted to tell you that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my double stroller!! I have been through many, and prefer the front to back. I have never had one where the kids could face each other, and could not afford some of the upscale strollers, so I cant comment on those, but the Graco Quattro Tour double is the one I have. The front has snack cups, but no tray which I love because my 20 month old can get out by himself when he is a little older..you know like at trips to the zoo when he will want to be in and out. The steering on this model is the best, I really like the way the handles are. I am not super tall, but I like that it is a little taller when you hold on to the handles (and they nicely double as a place to hang my diaper bag, or shopping bags). The basket is big, and easy to get to also. I get lots of comments about it when I am out and about, so be sure to check it out when you are comparing strollers. Congrats on the new addition, and good luck in your search. ( BTW look on the baby depot website, it is on sale. I bought mine from there to get the IONIC pattern, but different stores carry different patterns)

Hi C., I have two girls who are only 11 months apart. I have had every stroller known to man for the same reasons you are stating. I would recommend a double stroller where one sits in front of the other one. But make sure you get one where the seats turn and face each other. These strollers are good for a variety of reasons. #1, when you are out shopping it is very hard to get a side by side stroller to fit through a lot of doors and walkways. Also you can't really use a side by side with a newborn. With the stroller that sits them behind each other you can easily get through doors (or as easy as it can be pushing the stroller and trying to open the door). Also with this stroller you can use it for the newborn and when your little one gets older they will enjoy facing each other. This would be my suggestion.

Hello, I'm in the same boat and have been doing alot of research and have decided on the sit-n-stand Elite double stroller by one step ahead. It does so many things and the price is great. Here's the link.

I just went through the same thing. My 26 month old son insists on having a tray also, which was something that prevented me from getting many strollers I otherwise liked. We ended up with the Graco DuoGlider LXI. I got a great deal from http://www.albeebaby.com/ I went to several stores to test drive strollers, the only place I found that had this one was Lone Star Baby in Frisco. I am glad I tried them out. I almost got the Joovy, but it felt very bulky and hard to maneuver for me. Good luck. Just try out several and see what you and your oldest like!

I LOVE my GRACO duo glider. I think the tandem option is best for stores and sidewalks. It has two detachable food trays. The infant car seat will attach either front or back. There is plenty of room for your 20 month old in front or back, I tested several strollers with my then 3 year old when I was pregnant and this one was the best fit for her. The back seat fully reclines which is great so when your infant is old enough she can sleep or play while you shop or take walks. It's a bit heavier than the single stroller we had, but I can still easily lift it into the back of our Highlander. Also, the catch and release features are very easy to operate.

I have had two different double strollers and let me tell ya - don't get a big, bulky one. They look so nice and accomodating, but imagine shopping! Merchandisers have no forethought for the poor, desperate mothers trying to maneuver these huge things in and out to look at baby clothes or whatever. The second one we got was much more compact and "do-able" for us, but it's still sometimes tricky to get in and out of places. The side- by-side ones would undoubtedly be the most difficult to get through tight spaces, but are definitely light-weight. Enjoy your baby girls!

Hi C.,

When my son was born 4 months ago, my daughter was 26 months old. We got the Graco Duo Glider, it came with an infant carrier and base as well, which was handy for us. The stroller is big, there's no denying that fact. But it pushes smooth. My daughter sits in the front row and has a snack tray. The infant carrier will sit in both the front and rear. I love this stroller! And there's a nice size basket underneath as well.

I would go with the Bob. You can get an attachment that you can put your infant seat on. I wasted money on a tandem stroller and now I am in the market for a Bob. It really depends what you will use it for. I use my jogger more than my other 4 strollers :)!!

I love my Graco Duoglider! Front to back is key. I have a sister in law with an side-by-side umbrella, and the few times we have taken the kids out in it, it is a pain! It doesn't fit through doors or narrow walkways. We were constantly pulling kids out of the stroller to fold it down to get through the doors.

I bought my double right before my 2nd daughter was born (and the oldest was almost 2). We are still using 2 years later (they just turned 2 and 4). I can see us using it for a couple more years. I bought it at a consignment store and only paid about $60. Even if I bought it new, it would have been worth it!
