Subchronial Hematoma

I had one of these with my first. I was told not to lift anything over 10 pounds and to abstain until it went away. I had a follow up ultrasound in 3 weeks and it was gone.

I had this, too!!! My now 2 year-old daughter was an IVF baby after three years of infertility, so when I started bleeding I was devastated. I called the IVF people and told them I had passed a clot and the first thing they said was, "Oh Jen, I'm so sorry." I freaked out. I was sent to the hospital for an emergency ultrasound and when they found that she still had a heartbeat, I was so happy and confused. I had never heard of such a thing. I went home and continued bleeding. A few days later, the bleeding continued, and I ended up soaking two pads within four hours. I called again, and they sent me into do an emergency ultrasound AGAIN! That's when my IVF doctor said we had a subchorionic hematoma (a collection of blood that has caused the placenta to prematurely separate from the uterine wall). I ended up bleeding from my 5th week into my 14th week. It was a LONG time, and I often wondered if it was masking a miscarriage, but it all worked out fine. My daughter was born 8 lbs. 8 oz. at 41-1/2 weeks. She was very healthy and continues to be very healthy - 90th percentile in height and 60th percentile in weight.

I know how absolutely scary it can be. Bleeding for 10 weeks during a pregnancy is scary, but eventually it will subside.

I had the same thing with my daughter. The docs told me not to worry that it would absorb. I had a fair amont of bleeding wich was very scary but it did clear up by about four months.

I had one but no actual bleeding. It was detected at my very first U/S, I think it was 6 weeks (to determine date) and at my next U/S it was gone. They said not to worry about it, it happens a lot.

I believe you mean subchorionic hematoma. You really need to discuss this with your obstetrician

Sorry to be responding so late. Someone had told me about your issue, so I'm writing because I, too, had a subchorionic hematoma. I bled a fair amount and ended up on bedrest for about 3 weeks or so. Luckily, the hematoma was almost gone after the bed rest, and I now have a beautiful and healthy 5 month old son! Talk to your doctor and take it easy. Good luck!

Yes, I had a subchorionic hematoma when I was pregnant with my daughter. i believe the bleeding occured around 13 weeks. The first time I had some light bleeding for a few minutes, then a few days later I woke up to a huge gush of blood. It was very scary but I have a happy and healthy 11 month old girl now so don't let yourself get too worried about it.
