I have found that Weight Watchers is the easiest for me. It allows you to eat regular food so you don't have to spend additional money on prepackaged foods. You can go to meetings to get weighed and they offer great tips. Once you get the hang of it though, you can do by yourself. It is really all about portion control and exercise. The weight doesn't come off overnight so you have to be patient. Stick to it no matter what and you will be successful. I decided I wanted to lose weight and I was very determined. Nothing could stand in my way. That's the attitude you have to have. Good luck!!!

Being a model over the past 17 yrs I completely understand your situation. I gained 80 lbs while I was pregnant and was determined to get the weight off in 4 months.I was up every single morning running whether it was rain or shine and I had to really cut out carbs, sugar, carbonated drinks (even diet cokes in the beginning, they bloat you),it'a almost all about nutrition, Eat clean healthy foods, not too many fuits as they are sugar and then to turn to fat (carbs).....Drink so much water about 8 8 ounce glasses a day,not anything over this or water weight will prevail.......It's all in your mind and if you are doing tons of cardio ,running strolling baby with all the gear an ddrinking water eating healthy low carb steaned veggies or salads ,omit the cheese and use lemon or balsamic vinegar and olive oil not bacon bits etc. until you lose the weight then you can re incorporate things slowly. If you like tuna eat the solid white albacore and organic salads from publix or whereever you shop. Please do y ourself a favor and pic k one day ,like sunday an dtreat yourself to some dulce de leche frozen yougourt (in the ice cream section) Hagaan Daz. This way it won't be over kill. I would stay away from red meats ,even pork chops ,an dpasta and rice....those items sometimes mixed with protiens can actually hadve an adverse affect. but you are on the right track and I know you will succeed, you are half way there you took the first step.
Congrats.

sorry to read of your struggles!!

something to consider:
get your thryoid checked
I always like to rule out the medical stuff first
it's very common for your body's thyroid to go wacko during/after pregnancy
ask to get a full thyroid panel run
& see if you can get the actual number from the TSH test. A lot of docs/labs still go by the OLD scale, where #s up to 5.5 can still be called 'normal'. The NEW recommendations are not over 3.5. Even though it's been YEARS since they adjusted the TSH range, some docs still aren't aware...and many don't know that the ideal range is 1-2 for most women...
My endo likes to see that one between 0.35 and 2.0. Mine was at 5.4 when my symptoms were starting, some people can get up really high with no symptoms. My (fired)doc told me that my symptoms were normal and nothing that diet and exercise wouldn't cure. A year later my symptoms had really escalated and I sought a new doctor and was diagnosed and on the road to feeling better and being able to lose that hypo weight if I get serious about it.

weight watchers might help, too. It's very 'user friendly' and the meetings provide a lot of support & ideas

keep us posted!

It looks like you are doing the right thing, you should focus on losing inches and body fat instead of looking at the number on the scale. As you exercise, your weight may go up initially, but your body fat should be decreasing. Muscle weighs more than fat, but certainly it looks much better, and I am sure looking better is your goal, not just the number on your scale!

Congratulations - you are doing wonderfully! It is always a slow process losing weight. You may not be losing pounds now, because you are gaining muscle, which burns more calories even when you are sleeping. For me what always works is eating many small "meals" a day and drinking lots of water. If you can do even a few minutes of cardio in the morning to get your metabolism started, and then work with your personal trainer later, and maybe a few minutes of cardio after dinner, that should keep your metabolism up all day. I applaud your sticking to this - it is not easy at all. GOOD WORK and CONGRATULATIONS!

Honestly, eating smaller portions did it for me... I hit a slump from 5-9 months post child birth and just finally lost another 5lbs this past month. I still enjoy everything I eat tremendously but try to make smarter decisions more often than not--wheat instead of white--grilled instead of fried--salad instead of a heavy meal... and focusing on eating just enough to hold me over to the next meal. It took a while for it to pay off but that's what I attribute my recent weight loss to.

I have been working as a Personal Wellness Coach for almost 5 years now. Two years of the 5, I worked for a local doctor who has a Wellness Center. There, I helped his patients with weight management and good nutrition. Lots of experience with how to take it off safely and keep it off long term.

Meal replacements work wonderfully! But not all are made equally. You must ensure you are getting enough protein (not all animal protein either). An average woman needs 100g per day. If you are working out, you'll need more.

Feel free to call me and we can discuss what products are good and anything you may want to ask me.

I was struggling with my weight as well, then I found a doctor that prescribes those new "magic pills" - they are AMAZING !

The doctors office is across the street from Dadeland. The best part is that it is a Husband and Wife team of doctors and she just gave birth to TWINS in February ! So she KNOWS what we are going through.

You will lose up to 20 pounds in the first 6 weeks - it's really amazing.

The name of the place is called "A New You" and the phone number there is ###-###-####..... tell them that R. sent you - they are so nice there...

Good Luck

I have a friend whose husband needed to lose about 50+ pounds. He has been seeing a nutritionist and has lost a lot of it in a short amount of time. I would try finding a nutritionist who can help you set up a healthy long-term diet that will be more effefctive and easier to maintain in the long run rather than the fad or branded diets that are hard to stay on forever.

Hope this helps.

I had my son two and a half years ago and had 50 lbs to lose. I tried to go to the gym but saw that my efforts were not working so I also got a personal trainer who taught me a lot of things. First of all, you need to do a combination of wieght training and cardio. Secondly, you should try and eat small meals every three hours. A meal includes a fruit (only in the morning), a comlex carb(brown rice, sweet potatoe, ww bread) only a third of a cup, a vegetable and a protien. It is very rigorous but if you plan ahead you will be on top of the game. If you are not careful how you eat it will be extrememly difficult to take off the weight because exercise alone will not do the trick.
I also still struggle with the last ten pounds but don't forget you are human and as long as you are making an effort you should feel proud and good. Remember you had a baby but you will be able to do it.
Good luck

Hello A.,

Sorry to hear you are having such a struggle with your weight loss. I didn't have as much to lose as you but I was successful in losing weight after meeting with a nutritionist when I was on vacation on a Cruise. Funny as it seems most people go on a cruise and come back needing to lose those extra pounds but I came back with a whole new way for eating. In addition to that I have been taking suppliments which help the body to detox and get rid of stored fat. I would be happy to tell you more if your are interested. As well I have become a consultant for a line of products that help people lose fat and inches as well as weight loss. When you have a minute check out my website, www.itworks.net/A.
Hope to hear from you

I have been going to the gym for almost 6 monthes now and I was only losing inches. They are the most important part(inches). After gaining 4 pounds in one week with working out the trainer that I see occassionally refered me to a nutritionist. That was the best thing he could have done. Since I meet with the nutritionist I lost aleast 1 lb per week. I eat 1/2 cup serving size for everything that goes in my mouth and eat 6 times a day as well as work out 4 times a week. I walk/run 2 days and go to the gym 2 days. The plan is to eat 2 friuts, 3 vegetables, 3 proteins, 2 dairies and 5-6 carbs. Good luck hope it works for you.

Fit For Life by Harvey & Marilyn Diamond. Pub. Date: February 1987. He's written several books but this is the basics and very easy to read. You can get the paperback for about $7. Skip the 1st 2 chapters, that's all fluff. The 2nd half of the book is all recipes so it's only 125 pages of reading. Force yourself to follow it for 2 days and you will begin to crave the food you should be eating and you will also see some changes they predict in the book. Even if you decide to use another method to lose weight the info in this book will be very useful.
Good Luck and please let me know how you do.
