Hey mom's! You guys are always so helpful so I thought I'd throw another question out there. My son is turning 3 in November so unfortunately the weather may not be too great to do anything outdoors. We were planning on having his birthday at our house so I was wondering if any of you have some ideas on fun things to do or themes for a 3 year old. There will be quite a few smaller children, ranging from 6 months old to 8 years old and plenty of adults. Something that would be fun to do for everyone would be a plus! Any suggestions would be great!

When my son turned 5, we had a jungle animal-themed party. Every guest brought a favorite stuffed animal from home and then we made capes for the animals and took pictures with them. Then, while they were playing other games, I hid all the animals. We pretended the animals had wandered off and we had to go exploring to find them again. (Don't worry--no one was traumatized, and it was kind of funny to see how "parental" the kids became over wandering stuffed animals.) When they found their animals, we passed out novelty Band-aids in case any animals had gotten injured when they were lost, and then we had food together with a dish for each animal, too. It was a fun time. The T-shirt making sounds fun, too. Have fun! (There's a great book of party ideas but the title is slipping my mind. It's something like "The Penny. . .(Something) Party Book." I'm sure you could find it on Amazon and it's all about creating fun, simple, affordable, appealing parties at home for your children. I highly recommend it.

I love animal themes. Stick the tail on the donkey with stickers kind of game, make your own animal mask with paper plates and have a real cake. I'm not fond of only having ice cream cakes, especially in the colder weather, but that's me.

Hello-
My suggestion is to buy plain t-shirts (or oneses) and cloth paint (Michaels). It sounds like you will have plenty of adults to assist. Help each child paint their hand and press down on the shirt. You can put multi-colors on their hand. Then add an eye with a sharpee and write their name on the shirt. You will then have made a turkey tee shirt which can also be warn during Thanksgiving time.
We have been getting b-day cakes from Childs Pastry Shop since my daughters were infants. They do a wonderful cake. Since they were 7 and 8 they get to pick or design their own cakes and they are now 10 and 11 and still love that tradition.
Just a thought, have fun whatever you do.
