I am about to have a jungle party myself. Here are somethings I am doing.
**Jungle Charades (act out silly animals)
**I am asking the kids to bring their favorite (stuffed) WiLd animal and I will hide them in the yard and the kids go on safari looking for them
**For lunch we will have Monkey Tails on a Bun (hot dogs)and jungle juice (strawberry banana juice by dole).
**We will also make animal masks out of construction paper, felt and string.

Hope you have a great time at the party!!!

What about my favorite team party. Have everyone dress in their favorite team hat, shirt, whatever and their is a CD at party warehouse with sport theme music. Play games like football toss, toss it in a basket for prizes or you can toss the football or soft baseball the farthest. Just think up easy games using sports themes. Hope this helps. Thanks J.

You have lots of neat ideas already. I went to Party City the other day and I noticed Ben 10 theme party supplies(I have a son turning 9 this year so it caught my eye.) If you want to make the cake yourself just make a simple sheet cake and go to Toys R Us to get some Ben 10 action figures to add to it. Once the cake has been cut he will have some fun toys to play with. You can color any frosting by adding a package of unsweetened drink mix(koolaid) to it. For an activity they could make the watch thing that Ben 10 wears out of posterboard and any backyard games can be turned into Ben 10 theme by simply making one team the "good guys" and the other team the "villans."

For your son's safari theme I would make a "jungle room" with lots of leaves, vines and trees. My friend is doing this theme for her son's first birthday and she is cutting all these things out of different fabrics and papers to give it the real texture of a jungle and then she's bringing in as many real and fake plants as she can. This will make for a great photo opp. Everyone is wearing white and khaki safari gear. You can buy safari hats and binoculars from Party City. Again, if you want to make the cake simply make a sheet cake and decorate it with plastic jungle toys. You can get a set with 100 pieces or so in the toy section at Wal-Mart for a couple dollars or you could probably even get them at a dollar shop. You can use food coloring to dye coconut to give the cake a grass/safari effect and then add the plastic trees and animals maybe even a jeep with some people in it. You can buy plastic soldiers and paint safari clothes on them. The backyard stuffed animal safari sounds too cut not to do.
Good luck and have fun!

If you want to send me your personal email-I have a really cute summer magazine from Michaels that I can mail to you. It had A LOT of neat safari craft ideas. Or you might be able to pick it up but I think they were only on the shelf till July. I can also send you a link-we did my sons first birthday last year in jungle theme. I got a cake pan from Hobby Lobby in the shape of a lion. It turned out really cute!!! I love familyfun.com for ideas....here is a link for a jungle party:

http://familyfun.go.com/parties/birthday/feature/famf1996...

As for the 10 year old-it's the party and if they're into Ben10 or whatever...let them have the party like they want it! My daughter loved the Wiggles when she was younger and all I could find was boy looking party stuff so I did just a 'girl' theme and I regret it now because she would have had tons of fun with a Wiggles party. Just do what the birthday kid wants :)
Good LUck

M.,
I would take a look at www.amazingmoms.com great website with all kinds of ideas from the invitation wording to decorations and party games. you can also look at www.coolest-birthday-cakes.com for ideas for cakes. I do cakes on the side and recently did a jungle theme cake it turned out pretty cute:-} my website is www.freewebs.com/sweettemptationbakery I don't know what Ben 10 is..my kids aren't old enough yet. the other thing that you could do is starting next year trade off years that you give your kids parties. That's what we're going to do. It just gets too overwhelming trying to plan 2 parties in the same month (both of mine are july b-days 2 weeks apart). Regardless, have fun!!

I recently made my daughters invitations. Go to uprintinvitations.com. You can buy the file for $10.00 and then print as many as you want. Whats so great about the invitations is you can put a picture of your son on the invite. Good luck!

Also check out either Party City or U.S. Toy; they have tons of party favors. I'm certain that Party City has Diego party favors; they may have little decorations that you can put on the cake that can also be keepsakes. Never heard of Ben 10 as my kids aren't that old yet. I have twins and I have been known to order my cakes with two different designs; just put a line down the middle with icing and do different themes on each side. (I'm not very good at cooking). worked just fine for us. Party City has a lot of general boy themes, too, like Pirates, baseball, etc.

IF you have much of a budget to work with
I would suggest having Allison of Zooniversity
come to your party. She could do a wonderful
safari theme. She is an animal educator and
has fantastic aniamls! And wouldnt you know
I dont have her number handy.. but you can
go on line and look up Zooniversity. and see
what all she has available. You would LOVE her
she is very good! and..she is worth the expense!
it would be a party they would remember.

M., I do Noah's Ark Animal Workshop birthday parties and can easily do a Safari theme - I'm doing that next week at a preschool. We go on a journey and find animals and learn some things about them - in the end the children stuff their own jungle animal to take home. I also do Tomboy Tools and we have some really cute kits for making marshmellow shooters....

Your 10 year old is just the audience for Ben 10. My son also just turned 10 and loves it. And since they've made him, cousin Gwen and Keven into teens, its great for tweens. If you're going to get him some Ben 10 toys, or he has some that are clean, put 'em on the cake. As for invitations, find a Ben 10 image either plain Ben and use it on the invite or see if they have anything onilne you can down load. Or you can scan or download your son's favorite Ben 10 alien and put his face on the alien, something like that. Apply the same for Go Diego, Go! party. As for party idea, find soemthing in the show and use it in traditional party games. But the images on Bingo "cards" even. They usually also have Ben 10 games and things that you can purchase. They'd be fun. Get silly string and cheap laser guns for Ben 10 party.

It's not rockets science, although if your 10 year old is like mine that's space science is what he's interested in. Quit making it so hard. It's really pretty easy if you've got a computer. Or if you do a decent freehand drawing, apply the same only put your kid in the face, etc....

I think a jungle party would go well with Diego! For decorations, brown and green butcher paper could be made into trees and vines going up the walls and the ceiling...very cute decorations! If you decide to have a cake made, call Mindy with All Occasion Cakes. Her website is www.alloccasioncakes.vpweb.com, and her number is ###-###-####. She has a Diego cake that is too cute on her website!
