Slipper Colors

I am ordering slippers for myself for the hospital when I deliver, as well as some of my other preg girlfriends. I need help picking colors! White seems so clean and refreshing, but I also know how "dirty" delivery is and I am not sure white is a good idea! But I really like the white! Light pink, blue or brown are a few other choices. These will be monogrammed with the mom's initials.

What can I do next?

Even with good pads I had blood dripping down my legs, especially after I passed clots (TMI-Sorry!). I would go plushy slippers in black with a white or pink monogram so that 'stains' won't show.

How nice. You could do blue or pink based on the expected gender. Frankly, birth is soo messy, the color sort of won't matter.

To be honest, I would probably pick brown, becaus ebrown goes with everything!

Wow, I would have never have thought of slippers for the hospital... Cute idea, (I don't mean to be the party pooper) but honestly, I'm not sure I would want to use them at home afterwards. Hospitals have such a problem with staph and germs--I'm not sure I would want to bring any of those germs into the house with the newborn there. I would however bring some shower slippers...

I would go black. Everyone can wear them and they don't get stained so easily. Dark brown is good too.

I agree with M.K. Go with black or even dark brown. I stained my socks with dripping after my delivery.

I had white ones, but during the actual delivery, socks are much more comfortable! My slippers got worn maybe two times and they are still pristine b/c of it.

Brown is my vote-- delivery is very messy......I didn't pick brown because of that-- I just love the color.

In response to Karen N. - I'm sure she could wash them when she gets home.

Cute idea -- I have no opinion on the color. Your post just made me want to relate: I remember prepping for my first birth, and after my water broke I showered, put on makeup, did my hair and gave myself an enema (I'd heard horror stories of women pooping while they delivered.)

Well, fast forward to two days in labor -- all that fussiness went out the window, fast. And for my two successive births, when the time came I went to the hospital, as is.

But whatever, it's worth a try.

(Reading the other responses: LOL! Brown seems to be the consensus. Lots of oozing and dripping.)

You could get light blue or light pink depending on the sex of the baby. If they don't know you could get yellow.

Not that they would be any cleaner but I think it would be fun.

What a fun, thoughtful gift.

I would use flip-flops

Old Navy has cute ones.

Also, flip-flops are much easier to clean and can be used again for other uses.

Where I am from, everyone uses flip-flops.. and in the hospital. That is what I used.
And, you can decorate it yourself, if need be. Glue on rhinestones etc, or fake cute little flowers.
