Seeking Ways to Make My 4 Month Old Laugh

My daughter laughed first in the grocery store! After that, we got her to giggle a few ways:
Tickling her face with my hair, raspberries on the belly, saying different words (for some reason, calling her Gabby Enchilada worked...), and doing "This Little Piggy" on her toes. Hope it happens soon for you- it is so precious!

I've been told by a few people that I'm not funny, go figure that I can make my babies laugh. Peek-A-boo worked Really well. Pretending to sneeze by doing a really high pitched sneeze....ah ah ah ah chooooo, blowing little rspberries on her feet. Just be as goofy and silly as you possibly can with the highest, most annoying voice that you can possibly get. Embarass yourself and they'll laugh! That's one of my favorite parts of motherhood....those baby/children laughs are irreplaceable and unforgetable!

We pretend to sneeze. Our 5.5 month old loves it. My husband is a portrait photographer. He has all kinds of things to make little babies laugh.

*feather duster
*he makes kissing sounds - really loud

I tickle our little girl right where her upper leg bends and near her shoulder blade. She giggles like crazy. When she's old enough, try running a little bit. But hold her tight so she doesn' bounce everywhere.

We were very lucky. Some strange reason she smiled the day after she was born. But, it took her a long time to giggle. It's a great sound to hear.

My mom (my son's grandmother) says "meatball" to him over and over again and he thinks it's the funniest thing ever. I absolutely LOVE hearing him laugh - it's like a window into their soul and a glimpse of their real little kid self.

My little girl is just 3 months today and her laughing is definately something that my husband and I live for but the moments are rare. At this stage it is hard to get them to laugh. Here are some things to try:

*Peek-a-boo. Your little girl should definately be ready for this if you haven't tried yet
*Waving a fan. Anything that would make air blow in her face. Photographers use this a lot.
*Noisy and shiny toys. I was at a loss and actually used tongs.
*Making faces and sticking out your tongue.

I have a 4 month old and she laughs all the time. She has several tickle spots-like her ribs and tummy. Peekaboo and patty cake work well too. She loves kisses too and she laughs when we do that too. Hope this helps:) You will melt when you hear it for the first time-good luck

I remember when my little one first laughed, I didn't even do anything funny. I was watching tv with him on my lap facing me, I laughed at something on tv and I guess he thought it was funny. After that he laughed all the time if I made a fish face, elvis lip or funny enough if I deal or no deal. I find that things that aren't really funny he laughed at. Be patient it will happen.

My 10 week old laughs and laughs when you give him raspberries on his belly.

Apparently babies aren't born ticklish, its a learned response. I think it was at least 3 months before my little boy laughed on his own.
I found his ticklish bits are under his arms and on the back of his neck but could always make him laugh be tickling his tummy with my hair and making funny faces.
At the moment he laughs at the pinging noise in elevators...go figure.
Don't sweat it, it will happen, just like that first sweet smile back!
I have a friend who is not ticklish and neither is her baby, but they both have the same delightful laugh.
