Seeking Recommendations for Formal Portraits

I'm the mama to a 13 month old boy who we've taken tons of our own photos of and now are looking to have the studio portraits taken. Any recommendations? I know Sears, JCP, BabiesRUs, Target, Walmart have studios. Any that offer great photos and prices in the central MA/Worcester area? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I highly recommend Sean Cassidy at Cassidy Photo studio in Whitinsville (70 Church St./508.###-###-####). He photographed the kids at my daughter's daycare and captured her spirit perfectly, so we went back to him for Christmas pictures, cards, etc. I found his prices to be reasonable and the quality was outstanding. He tuned right in to my daughter's personality and brought out her best for the pictures. We'll be going back again this year!

I've gone to Kiddie Candids (at Babies R Us) and to Sears...My experience with our photographer at Kiddie Candids was that she did a great job of getting my daughter to smile- did some really cute poses, used cute props, etc. They are a little pricey in comparison to Sears/WalMart/Target.

Our experience w/ Sears was so so. Our photographer wasn't super creative w/ posing and backgrounds...we had a great coupon though and got some nice shots...they are a little "canned" though-

Next time we plan to go to a more formal studio (like Cassidy or one of those places) to get some nice, creative shots-

it all depends on what you're looking for- if you just want soem shots, but don't care how creative they are, I'd save your money and just get some nice shots at one of the cheaper places- My opinion is that we'll be taking lots of pictures along the way so just try some different places out!

For my kids I have tried JC Penny and Sears. I always go to Sears now. I have really good luck there. We also do a picture for my mother in law every year at Target. I find Target to be a hit or miss. Sometimes they're good, not great, and other times we find ourselves getting very frustrated with the photographer.

Hi K. -

the BEST place is Kiddie Kandids - they're in the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley - (the outside mall in Millbury). VERY easy to get to & there are ALWAYS TONS of coupons & discounts available!!! These girls get the best pictures out of the kids. And not only that - you can pick & choose any pictures you want in your 'package' or non-package. It's not like Sears or even Walmart where you only pick one photo for the actual package - with Kiddie K's you can mix & match with no extra charge!

They've always done beautifully with my two boys (they're not the easiest to photograph by the way!) but I've never had a bad experience with KK.

Good luck!

We've gone to the Target Studios in Natick and Milford, and have been very impressed with the quality and the prices are good too. We've also used Sears at the Auburn Mall with good results.

I highly recommend Target. You can pick whatever sheets you want for $3.99 each of any of the poses. At WalMart you get a million pictures (many of which we never used) cheap but you are stuck with the first pose they pick! At Target, you can get only the sizes you need and pick one of every pose if you want!!! I always make a list of who I need pictures for and of what size for each person and then order a couple extra just in case! You can also get coupons online for better deals too!! Just Google Target Portraits I think! Hope this helps!! My friend uses Babies R Us but pays through the nose for them!!!
