Seeking Alternative Spirituality for the Whole Family in Broward

Check out the Science of the Mind Church in Boca (fyi, it's not Scientlology or Christian Science). It is non-denominational and non-sectarian. It is not a specific religion per se, but they teach prayer and believe in God and focus a lot on the power of your thoughts. The message is very positive and they have a Funday School for children. Basically it has the church/community/family/spiritual thing going on without a lot of dogma. I think there is an affiliated church in Ft. Lauderdale, but I have never been.

You say you are not an athiest. This tells me that you believe in God. You also say that you want your children to be involved. You want something real for your family. I would suggest you go to Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale. They are a non-denominational church with a wonderful childrens ministry. The children go to thier own classes and can meet alot of other children. This church teaches the bible and will help you to find the God you are searching for. I pray that you will give this a chance and I hope this helps.

I don't know if this will be a proper fit for you, but I thought I'd suggest GWAH Healing Way Institute in Pembroke Pines. It is run by my mother-in-law. Since you mentioned trying to have a holistic lifestyle, I thought I'd throw it out there. There is a spirituality component, although the focus is on holistic healing. H., My name is P. and my heart goes out to you. I sought answers for some time before finding them and the peace I was lookimg for. I found my answers in Jesus who said " I am the way the truth and the life,no man comes to the Father but by me." I don't want to sound preachy to you but I am now 65 and have been experiencing peace and joy in Jesus for years now. If you're interested, you may want to try Unitarian Universalism. I go to the "church" in Boca. It's open to people of all faiths, non-denominational, doesn't make mention of a specific god. But the services are beautiful and they have a wonderful program for children.

They are really into community service and organic living. So from what you've told me, it seems like it may be a good fit.

I believe there is another church in Fort Lauderdale. And maybe one in Plantation...

Unfortunetly I dont have an answer for you , I myself have been looking for a method of spirituality for my family. I tend to lean more toward Buddhism, I have been unable to find, a place to learn & practice where I feel comfortable. It seems all of the "organized" religion/spiritual places are more of a business than anything else, In that enviroment I find it hard to get the right message. I have been researching for a while, Since my daughter was born (28 months) I think it is even more important to have spiritual guidance for the family. I will be checking your responses, also If I find out anything I will let you know. If nothing is out there maybe we can setup our own meetup and readings/talk.
