Hi L.!

We ran into a similar problem with our daughter when she was about the same age. I found that consistency is the key. We started putting her down for the night a half hour earlier and her naps were at the same time every day. If that meant that I had to rearrange our day because it was nap time then I did. Also, it wasn't long after that she gave up her morning nap so your little one may be telling you he's getting ready to drop that nap. Come up with a plan and stick to it. We also made sure that the routine every night was basically the same, bath, book, brush teeth, bed. The first few nights she cried but every night it was less and less until none at all and we had our wonderful sleeper back! Good luck!

This happened for my son at his daycare, they told me one day that they have to cut down one of his naps, they spend the whole time trying to get him down but he refused, he now only gets one nap a day. It is probally just time. I will admit, I do miss that nap, it was a chance to get stuff done on the weekends.

It may be that he's starting to transition to one nap and the lack of sleep during nap time is making it difficult for him to go to sleep at night. My third is almost 14 months and she was doing great on her 2 naps a day, but now that she's transitioning to one nap the days have been much more difficult. It was a difficult transition for all of mine. Have you tried one nap starting in the late morning? You can start gradually pushing the morning nap later and later and hopefully he'll take one long nap and then go to sleep at night well. You may have to make his bedtime earlier for awhile too. Hope that helps.
Good luck!

Honestly when that happened with my son, I would get in the car and take him for a ride. It is not ideal but now that he is older we have kept the routine of the nap. Also, it is possible that he is trying to work down to one nap a day.
