Seeking Activities for My 4 Year Old Son

I have been having a very hard time finding extra cirricular activites for my 4 yr old son. I am interested in sports, academic, or even just a play group. I have found that most activities don't accept children under age 5. We are not from here, so our family surroundings are very limited. I think this may be why he is showing interest in developing new relationships. Any suggestions???

What can I do next?

I would suggest the Parkway Early Childhood Center's Parent and child classes. I taught a cooking class for children ages 3 and up to do with a Parent. Parkway School District has a number of good programs: science, cooking, playgroups, playtime in a gym,and many more. You do not have to live in the Parkway School District to take classes.

C.,
Check out "the Little Gym"... they accept children of all ages. Or another suggestion is "Vetta Sports" they have sports activities for little ones. both should have web sites you can visit to get more information and costs.
Good luck.

Hey C.. Ask your son what he is interested in doing. I have a 4 year old daughter and certain days of the week I let her tell me what she wants to do or where she wants to go. My daughter and I usually discuss our plans in the morning while I'm getting ready for work and she is getting ready for daycare. Is your son in daycare? My daughter and I go to the zoo, park, science center, have picnics, and hang out in Toy's R Us. I call those events field trips. Certain days we stay home and play with her dolls, play school with colors, shapes, numbers, puzzles, etc. We also have movie night where I let her pick two of her favorite movies and we have popcorn. It also depends on the town you live in,some towns have weekly activities for the residents. Just try doing things that he enjoy doing with his mommy. I hope everything works out and good blessings in your schooling, u go girl. Please keep in touch!

look into midcountymoms.com
the majority of the kids are under 5, and they have tons of activities and playgroups.
you will find some of the moms are SAHMs and some work outside of the home.

I had the same problem last year and I went on meetup.com and signed up with some mom groups on there. I have been in one for over a year now and I have made some great girlfriends while looking for activities for my 4 year old son and one year old daughter. The groups have a calander with activities and also has a message board where you can "chat" with the girls. The activities can be a visit to the firehouse, park playdates, playdates at someones house, etc. They are so supportive and fun and our kids have a great time together! We also have a moms night out once a month. The fees are usually 6.00 every 6 months. If you would like anymore info, feel free to contact me!
