Hi Moms! I am looking for suggestions on safe cleaning products to use on my son's toys. He is just getting over a cold with ear infection and I want to clean his toys so that he won't get the same cold back. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You can try using a little bit of bleach with hot water. Soak the toys in it for a while. It's safe to use if you follow the directions.

Hi J.!

I like you was concerned with having safer cleaning products in my home & about 2 years ago found a company that has them & more! We made the switch & since then have had only 1 trip to the doctor's office & that was 2 years ago! We definitely have seen the benefits by us all being healthier & on top of that...we're saving money!

You can go to the website - www.saferforyourhome.com to see more & I'd be happy to show you how you can start shopping with them!

Good luck!

Hi - You don't need to worry about him getting the 'same' cold back, cause he won't get 'that' particular one again thankfully! However, certainly a good idea to clean the toys... a quick easy thing to use is Clorox Anywhere. It's great for the plastic & hard surface toys... Not to mention on handles, door knobs, lightswitches, etc... pretty much any hard surface that you touch. No wiping is required. Love it.

Vinegar and water or lemon juice and water are great cleaning agents and completely safe. I would give them a try. Good luck!

I agree with Julie B. Dilute bleach in a big tub of water, dunk your toys in for about 10 minutes, rinse well with water. The ph of the bleach is what's helpful, compared to using other chemicals.

Good luck!

One of the best products for cleaning just about everything is plain old white vinegar. Buy it by the gallon in the supermarket. You can use the white vinegar mixed with tap water for various cleaning problems.

Hi J., Well, I certainly have the answer for you -- Shaklee's non-toxic cleaning products!! They are safe for us and safe for the environment. I try very hard to get invited to Moms' groups to educate them on these products. Not only are they safe because they contain NO nasty chemicals, but they really clean and are actually cheaper to use. This is true because Shaklee's cleaning products are heavily concentrated so they last much, much longer than the products we have all been using. We, the consumer, add the water and the spray bottle. Yes, I am a Shaklee distributor but am simply answering your request for a solution to safe cleaning products for your son's toys. Please contact me for more info ###-###-#### or ____@____.com You may check out the products on my web site www.emilytaft.com I will be happy to assist you in any way that I can. Best Wishes. E. We use and love Melaleuca products. They have an EPA approved botanical disinfectant, too! It's perfect for toys and everything else and absolutely safe! They do not use any harmful chemicals, including bleach. Bleach is actually very harmful, especially to kids and pets. I was so glad to find out there is an alternative. My youngest has asthma and she is fine at home because we only use Melaleuca's products. When she was around bleach at school recently, she had an asthma attack.

I am happy to share more info with you if you want to contact my offline.

I'm a huge fan of the Shaklee Get Clean line. I used to use Clorox wipes and Lysol daily, but have cut way back: the Shaklee works better, is safe for my kids, better for the environment and cheaper in the long run.I only use Clorox wipes and Lysol them on counters, etc. when I NEED to disinfect, or when someone in my house is sick. We also love the dish washing fluid and the laundry formulas!
