Hi Moms,

My soon-to-be 4 year old daughter will be starting preschool in the Fall and I am doing all my research! We are looking at Trinity Lutheran and St. Pius in Lombard, St. Alexander in Villa Park and the Oakbrook Terrace park district. Does anyone have any experience with those? Or are there any other preschools that you love that I should look into? I'm not looking for rigorous academics but I want my daughter to be challenged - more important is learning through play and socialization. I'm also looking for low teacher to student ratios and schools that value art and music.

Thanks for all your help!

About me: Mamacita to a beautiful and independent 3-1/2 year old girl and 6 mos. old little boy... who we're still working on sleeping through the night! I work part-time out of my home as a public relations freelancer so I can spend most of my time with my little ones. I'm married to my college sweetheart and feel very blessed to be so happy.

What can I do next?

Hi J.,

We live in Lombard and I probably looked at about 10 preschools even all the ones that you mentioned. My son attends Buttons and Bows in Elmhurst. We love it, they do really cute activities everyday and the kids and moms are really nice. Next year I was hoping to be a little closer to home so I have heard nothing but good things about The Growing Place and the First Church of Christ Co-op. They are both in Lombard and they both fill up very quickly but they have waiting list depending on what time you are looking for. If you have any more questions you can contact me anytime.

Good Luck!
Kathy

We go to the Growing Place and absolutely love it. It's in the church next to St. Pius. My oldest went there for 3 years (2 year old preschool, then 3 year old preschool, then 4 year old preschool). I have two kids there now, one in the 2 year room and one in the 3 year room and next year I will have one kid in each of the three classes! Registration is February 9th. You can call Lisa Elder the director at ###-###-#### and/or pm me if you have any questions.

We send our kids to the preschool through Salt Creek Elementary which is in Elmhurst but is mainly for Villa Park and Oak Brook Terrace residents. It is a 4 day a week program with the choice of morning or afternoon for 3 hours. Since it is in the school the children get to have gym, art,& music classes, and also get to go to library to check out books. It has been great because they go right from preschool into kindergarten and they know all the teachers and staff. Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck.
