4 Year Old Is a PICKY EATER!

HI! I know this question has probably been asked a ton and the one thing I know is that kids ARE picky eaters but I have a few specifics that I'd like some light shed on. Background - I live with my boyfriend and his 4 year old daughter. I'm not the primary rule maker or discipliner and I give my boyfriend the final say. A lot of the time I think he's being too easy on her for the food issue but since he's the one who talks to the doctor and is the parent, I try to heed to his word. I also don't want to contradict him, especially in...

Breastfeeding Longer than "Normal"

I was wondering if any mom has breastfeed longer than the "normal" time. I thought my daughter would ween herself (like my son did) but no such luck! I don't think it's hurting her, she eats everything we do. I think it is just for comfort (before bed)...Any thoughts? Thanks

Infant Food Confusion

Hopefully someone out there in cyberspace can clear some of this up for me. It seems like some of the information I've read in parenting books and magazines is contradictory to what is available out there in the stores for feeding infants. (1) The books tell you that strawberries are one of the "highly allergic" foods and that you shouldn't be giving them to kids under the age of 1. Right there on the shelf at the supermarket is a container of stage 2 food that has bananas and strawberries, with no warning on the label. Gerber...

3 Year Old Behavior...

Hello there...I am looking for new tricks to have up my sleeve when dealing with my 3 year old daughter. As of late she has taken to shrieeking when put on a time out. I also have not been able to get her to say "I'm sorry for _____" once she's out of her time out. She flat out refuses and walks away or says she "can't". She also has taken to talking or raising her voice over mine to repeat herself when told "no" in getting something. This she picked up from me due to my using it when she started repeating herself so say "noooooo" over her....

Boppy Vs. My Brest Friend???

Hi Moms, I'm curious to hear from mom's that tried both the Boppy and the My Brest Friend. Which one did you prefer? What were the pros and cons of each that you exprienced? I'm working on my registry, and I'm not sure which way to go. I think the boppy's are much cuter, but I hear that the My Brest Friend may be much better for feeding. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance!

Snacks or No Snacks?

Two of my girls are going through a very picky eating stage. They're 2 and 4. Some people say kids really need snacks, but if either one of them has snacks, they won't eat their dinner, unless of course it's something they love (ie pizza, or take out which we don't have often) My rule has always been, if they eat their meal, they can have one snack later. If not, they don't eat till their next meal. I've been catching grief from my mother about this and I was wondering if anyone else does this, or thinks I'm aweful for doing this.

Homeschooling a 3 Year Old

Any advice on starting a cuuriculum for my 3 year old. I'm a SAHM and our budget is slim, right now I can't afford to get him into half day preschool. The least expensive I've found is $95 a week. So I've been seriously thinking of homeschooling him. What advice, websites and curriculum can be beneficial and easy to teach. Thanks moms

Kids and Sweets- Healthy Mom Wants to Know If Its Realistic to Hold off on Sugar

When I pictured being a mom, I pictured being one of those mom's who kept all sugar and junk food out of the diet until they were three of four. Possibly going vegetarian and having the healthiest children who didn't even whine for soda or treats because they scarcely knew what they were. But today I pulled a mango/cream Popsicle out of my freezer and ate it (I try not to have sweets in the house, it was from last summer and I'm still trying to loose the last 7 lbs from pregnancy!). My 8 month old is just expressing interest in our food...

Subpeona for My 3 Year Old?

My husband was in a car accident in April and my 3.5 year old son was in the truck with him. It was 100% the other drivers fault. Apparently the other driver was also driving on a suspended license, and now we have received a subpeona for my husband to appear in court, and also one for my 3 year old. My husband will obviously go, but why would they want my 3 year old? He is not a reliable witness and would not be able to recognize the guy or anything. He stayed in the truck until I got there a few minutes later, and the whole time...

3 Year Old Stubborn Eater

I have a 3 year old son who is beyond a picky eater. He refuses to try a lot of foods. He has been like this for two years. He sticks to only particular foods and that's it. I tried every method on mixing and changing foods for him to try. I used to get frustrated with the situation, but now I just let the situation take it's course. I wanted to know if any mothers have the same problem and what they did to help their child become curious about eating other foods? I want to be able to sit at the table at dinner time with my son, but since...

How to Get 4 Year Old to Eat Meat!!

I have a beautiful 4 year old son who would rather eat fruit than chips and cut up fresh veggies than popcorn! It is amazing and I love it! My mom said I was the same way as a child(still am). Any ways...he will not eat meat without a huge fight and doesn't like cheese or beans either. I have trued everything! His pediatrician gave me the green light for him to be a vegatarian or even a vegan eater. I will be joining him but I want to know if you think I should get him(make him I guess) to eat meat first or should I concede defeat on this...

Soon to Be 3 Year Old Doesn't Sleep Thru the Night!!

HELP!!! Our soon to be 3 year old does NOT sleep thru the night and we have tried EVERYTHING to figure out why she is waking up, but have yet to "crack the code." She attends a full day pre-school program 5 days a week (7:00am-3:15pm), she is a fairly good eater (as of the last 2 months), she is not given a lot of junk (one popsical after school, that's it-we won't even let her have yogurt any more because the sugar is so high & we don't know if that contributes to the lack of sleep). We do allow her some "educational" tv, but nothing...

Is It Really Bad If You Forget to Take Your Prenatal Vitamins?

I know that they give you all the nutrients the baby needs to grow, but I seem to forget all the time about them and I feel bad. We have been sick with a cold all week ( my daughter and me) so that made it even harder to remember. I am busy all day with my toddler and when I remember it's already the next day in the morning, so I take it that day but then I forget AGAIN the next day. I eat healthy and the baby looks great in the ultrasound but I still feel bad about this. Can something bad develop in the fetus because of this. My due...

I'm Tired of Looking like I Do!

And this is not just about having a post baby body - I've been struggling with my body for years now. I do have 2 children, 4 and 1 yrs old. I'm lucky that I am naturally skinny, but certainly not naturally toned. I am tired of being flabby. I am an avid exerciser, and am so sick of having all my work at the gym go down the drain. It's my diet! I love pasta, bread, chocolate, cereal, crackers, etc - all the carb stuff. UGH. I'm not one to pig out on pizza, cake, Doritos, McDonald's, etc, but obviously what I am doing is not working...
