The little potties are inconvenient to clean ... if possible, just go right to the big toilet. You may need to hold his/her hands for a month or so until he/she feels comfortable about not falling in, but in the long run, you'll be better off. He/She will be able to go potty anywhere without you having to lug around a little potty or a toddler seat.

I really like the toilet seat we got. It is both a small sized seat and a normal sized together. You just put both pieces down for the small size and pull up the small size for the adults.

Easier to manage. No messy potty to clean up-- ewww. You can put a little step stool by the toilet to make it easy for your child to reach.

We bought it on Amazon.com

Well, I really think it's all a matter of preference (hers and yours). If she's willing to go on the big toliet with a seat then I would say go for it. If it scares her or she is more comfortable with the little potty, then go with that. I think some kids think the big toliet is too intimidating so that's where the little potty comes in. Whatever you decide, the most important thing is that she feels secure and safe. :) Good luck :)

We had a potty chair for both of my daughters but they preferred to use the toilet with a little seat on it. I found the potty chair to be a waste of money, but I know other parents that used it alot! Each child is different. If it were me I might try the toilet first and if that doesn't work try the potty chair. Good luck!

My 28 month old son sits very well on the regular seat...he just holds onto the sides...we have a potty seat that fits over the seat but he prefers to be like us...at 3 she should be ok on the seat...I did not want to deal with empting a small potty and had heard many kids have difficulty transferring to the big potty once they get attached to the little potty. Maybe see what she'd like??

We ended up buying both but my son prefers his little potty. I give him a choice of big potty or little. I think the one on the toilet will come in handy when he is a bit older. You could probably just take her to the store and let her pick one out.

Holly,

I say go for the big potty. I sat my son backwards so he wouldn't fall in. It's easier on you to clean plus it teaches him not to be afraid of it. My son did fine, transitioned himself to forward facing and eventually standing with a step stool and aiming! I forget how easy it was. I think us moms tend to worry about it, but looking back it was like a day or two and he was all set. I kept putting if off because I dreaded it, it was easy! If you do go the big potty route, keep the old one. Even at 4, we now keep it in the garage for summer play. This way he can go outside even if he's a mess and I don't want to clean him off just to pee. So ours did get some use! Good luck.

I recently purchased potty seats because I read that it is preferrable to use appropriately-sized toliets for the child when starting to train. So far, my daughter really likes her pottys and sits on them. However, we are just in the beginning stages of training, so I don't know how it will turn out yet! But she likes it when I sit on "Mommy's potty" while she sits on hers.

We always used a small potty seat that fit over the regular toilet seat. Eventually they didn't want to use the small seat (which was great!) I never wanted to have to "clean" a separate "potty" toilet and, since my kids adjusted well to the big toilet, all was good. Good luck!
