I also recommend the baby bjorn training seat that goes on the regular toilet. It is one piece and adjusts to fit either a regular or elongated seat. We also have a small potty chair and my son won't usse it, he would rather sit on "Mommy's potty".

DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY@!!!!!!

Have your son sit BACKWARDS on the potty. That way he can SEE his pee (which is of course entertaining to the little guys....) AND his pee will go in the toilet.

Toilet seats are not made well for boys. And who wants to clean the little pee spout all the time. I would recomend trying this method first. It worked well for all the boys I potty trained at my daycare!!!

We are in the process of potty training are son he is 2 1/2 and we got the potty chair at wallmart that when he goes potty it plays music so he know and I know. That has worked great, but we also use the toliet seat one when we are out at others homes and he likes that cause than he can flush the toliet.

my boys loved to sit backwards on the toilet. they could hold on, look down and the way they spread their legs kept their little deal pointing straight down. they were not crazy about a sit down little potty chair so as soon as they were tall enough - even using a stool - they stood like their daddy. always praise them for just sitting there and going just a little. i always gave like 1 m&m for each successful try. good luck!

Baby Bjorn makes a seat that is all one piece, it's about $10 I think. I regret I went out and got a seat with 4 or 5 parts and a cushy seat. I don't recomend that, especially for a boy since they can be a bit messy! One piece is easy to clean every time, and most kids really don't care what it looks like or if there's a cushy seat. When my second starts training, I'm getting a one peice potty.

We have the Baby Bjorn seat that goes on the regular toilet. My son prefers it over the other one we have downstairs, so I'm actually thinking about getting a second one.

My son is 15 months. We started my older son by having him sit on a potty chair with his cloths on and we let him have a toy and we read books. We did all kids of things on it!. Then we started every morning we sat on the potty chair and then went more times durring the day. After we were sitting a lot on the potty chair we got a seet that went on the big potty. By the time he was 18 months old he was almost potty trained. Unfortionatly someone told us that we would cause him to have urinary problems so back off until he was 3. I'm not going to make that mistake again I'm getting my 15 month trained! Best of luck in your training!

Are you looking specifically for the seats that go over a regular toilet, or are you open to a potty chair? My son is 13 months and has a Baby Bjorn Little Potty potty chair. If you are thinking about potty training now at 14 months, this potty chair is quite small and the perfect size for young toddlers. We love it because it has a little "shield" on the front, so that he doesn't spray the room (LOL). I also think that the way the kid sits on it facilitates going poop better than a traditional potty chair. Good luck!

If your son is tall enough, you can just teach him to pee standing up...it's easier, and more convenient for when he has to then go when you're out at another place or visiting grandparents, etc---we played the "sink the cheerios" game in the toilet, and my son loved it! And, for #2, we just bought a potty seat that sits on the toilet for the same reason--it's more convenient to take with you if needed, and it teaches them to sit on a real toilet, so when it comes time to go to the bathroom when you're not at home, they aren't so afraid of a regular toilet. Plus, there's no cleanup mess!

We really like the Baby Bjorn potty with the seat that lifts out. It has a built in guard, but doesn't get in the way and makes for easy clean up!

Baby BJorn potty seat. They're expensive new, but you can sanitize a hand-me-down one. I got one for 50 cents and it was great! The guard is built in and therefore your son can't take it off, it is a short guard but tall enough to keep from spilling over.

But you can also teach him to sit backwards on the potty- helps him not fall in when he's younger/smaller. The drawback to that is he has to be actually naked from the waist down, rather than pants around the ankles.

My son really just likes "hooking up" to the big potty. That is, he just gets on it like a big person and kind of hangs down in- you know how kids hang on to the seat and droop their butts down in. That is by far the most effective way to keep from making messes.
