Aspen Academy is a wonderful private school from Early Childhood Education through 8th grade. It is in Greenwood Village, they have small class sizes and the familys are one big community. My kids love the school and everything about it. The website is www.aspenacademy.org

I would first look into the test scores for the different classes. I would tour the building and check out the projects the kids are doing. Check the curcirulum and make sure the kids are reading at the grade level. I would also talk to the teachers and get a feel for what they want the kids to learn. Also, how interactive they are with the students. What is the teacher/student ratio in the classroom.
Are the teachers going to work with the kids to help them learn or just pass them to the next grade to get rid of them.

I would select a few from different styles. Christian, Charter, Public, and Academy see which one works for you and your child. Most kids do better in a smaller class.

What most people don't realize is the fact that the teachers are preparing our children for jobs that don't exist yet.

If you're interested in Montessori style, I found out last year that some are free after Kindergarten (Littleton and Castle Rock).

Just started my 3 girls at Cherry Creek Academy and really like it. It is a Cherry Creek charter school, with a waiting list, so download the application and hand it in even if you don't know what you want yet. I handed mine in 1.5 years ago, was told we would never get in by people we know, and all 3 were accepted this summer. We were in private Christian schools before now.
Good luck.
